Aftermarket Control Arms?
Aftermarket Control Arms?
Well after 245km my front upper ball joints have started to have some play. Although there are no knocking noises, I've encountered random steering wheel shuddering at 65+mph, car wanders severely all the time, alot of bump steer going on and a overall fight with the steering wheel just to keep the car going straight. I decided to bring the car into a professional suspension shop where they showed me that with the car on the lift the front wheels had play in it at the 3 and 9 position I could clearly see the upper ball joints were causing that. Also my tie rods need to be replaced due to uneven tire wear on the front tires. Everything else checks out ok.
The OEM control arms are $220CDN a peice! I don't quite have that amount to shell out. Looking at rock auto led me to Doorman Control arms with ball joint and bushings at 60$ a piece. The UCA's seems to be made in Taiwan so im kind of skeptical on the quality of these UCA's. I plan to keep the car until it dies so I'd like to not have to replace them again. Although they do carry a lifetime warranty. Raybestos PRO-Grade also has the UCA's at 99 a peice but unsure if the extra cash is worth it. Looking for some feedback on the fitting of these control arms as well!!

The Mevotech and Beck/Arnley are as well made in Taiwan just like the doorman's. Although Doorman is the only one to offer a lifetime warranty. The Raybestos I cannot find any info on although I'm 100% sure the raybestos is just a repackaged UCA from another supplier.
can we take the bushing out of the stock ones and replace it with new bushings?.. thats really all i need... if so..where can i find it?

OK so after further investigation, Autozone and Advance AP also carry the doorman UCA its the only model that they have available for our cars. The guy at autozone assured me that the doorman UCA is a quality product that has a lifetime warranty. I guees I'll go with the doorman model due to budgeting issues, even it it lasts for 2 years id say you get what you pay for @ $59.99 a side I can't really complain much.
OK so I went to the local auto recyclers today who has a shit load of 2ng gens, They have 2 UCA's OEM for 50$ a peice. The car it was taken off has about 60k on it. Would it be a stupid idea to get those used vs the doormans brand new?? I know this is pretty much a wear and tear part but I dont know the life expectancy's with these things.
