AEM bypass valve questions.....

OK.... so i was wondering if an AEM bypass valve would fit my "ebay" cold air intake.... heres a picture of it on my engine now...

i was trying to find one on ebay that will fit my 02 type S but i'm not having any luck.... i have the money and it's been really rainy here in virginia lately and i really don't wanna go through a deep puddle and... well... yeah... anybody have any input/links to show me/pictures? i'm pretty sure my intake is a 3inch intake....

thanks!!

first make sure that your intake tubing is really 3". and yet the one above would fit if its the correct diameter.

why would it be a waste of money? isn't it pretty easy for water to get sucked up our CAI's because they are so close to the ground?

Because water splashing on the filter wont hurt it. If you drive thru enough water (over a foot deep) you shouldnt be there to begin with. Also they are known to break and wear out and the flap getting sucked into the TB.

Using your head and not driving into lakes is much cheaper. Ive never had problems with CAIs in my 13+ years of using them (and ive been in heavy rains for hours on end and thru deep puddles)

I bought a bypass valve too, but decided not to install it. It's rained several times and I have gone through plenty of puddles without incident. Maybe i won't install it after reading about not needing it since this is like the tenth time someone said it's unnecessary on here.
