Add me to the list of transmission problems
Well. i thought to myself when i got my 2000 acura tl that i would be getting a car that would last me 300000 plus. like my sisters vigor. Well at 23000 my transmission is jerking when i let off the accelorator and when i accelorate very slowly... The worst part about it is that i am a 17 year old high school student who lives a hour and a half away from the closest acura dealership.. I dont ever have time to go get it fixed.. grr.
Does anyone know what EXACTLY is going wrong with the transmissions.. well i hope noone else is in my same situation.

Sorry to hear that you have these problems. Unfortunately, my car is still at the dealership waiting for one. I can't tell you exactly what is wrong with the tranny, but it is definitely something that Acura should investigate and resolve. Expect to wait at least 2 or more weeks for the new tranny because there are ppl in front of you.
hey search the forum..i got same car more miles..lots of debate...but u'll find the solution the problem..it takes a very precise method to get acura to fix it...oh yea i just remembered u stilll got warranty lol....sorry but it still wouldn't hurt to know a few ways to get them to fix it.... PS. It's probably the torque converter that's going bad in the tranny...mine was the same..try not to drive it much and tow it to the dealership...don't drive it there cuz it'll give them a bad impression. good luck..my new tranny is having all sorts of problems too..
it's going back in this week to get maybe yet another tranny

see, i'm waiting, i have 2000 TL with 31,000 miles on it, and sometimes you have those days where you drive a car like you hate it. I've had those days , and i've had those days of doing stupid tricks too, and i can't believe how lucky i am that i haven't had one single problem with my transmission. i bet as soon as i tick over to 36,001 its going to **** the bed, and the people at my dealership are total jerks, customer service isn't exactly on their list of things to push with their employees.

The jerking or shaking is caused by the torque converter engaging and disengagin. My Accord V6 does the same thing. Although changing the fluid more often does help,..but of course, that doesn't solve the root problem why it started jerking for me when my car was still stock. I have nothing to say but comment on the fact that Honda's V6 lines are still immature compared to the mature 4 cyl. market. I will not get a V6 Honda/Acura of any kind again until they redesign their transmissions inner-workings.
My car is at Park Ave, and they told me no ETA on the tranny repair. So I am expecting over a month wait.
