Acura TL transmission problems

Acura TL transmission problems
I purchased my TL 3.2 by the end of 2000. The car was just wonderful the whole of year 2001. I made over 15000 miles when the transmission started to shift abruptly in low gears causing the car to jerk violently forward. The dealer told me that the replacement would take “maybe more than a month”. In the meantime, they gave me a little compact that was the least expensive rental from the local rental place.
Buyer BEWARE of this car! The tech at the dealership told me that they are seeing A LOT of bad transmissions from THE LATE MODELS of TL and TL type S.
People, lets make sure that Honda owns up to its “unbreakable car” image. A transmission failure below 20000 miles in many new cars is a major thing!
I saw a separate forum for the tranny problems on the www.acura-cl.com site but not here.
Did you have your transmission replaced/repaired?

Yes we too are experiencing tranny problems, just run a search and you will see. I have been noticing problems on my 00' since about 15K as well. It slips between 2-3 & 3-4. When you are moving and mash the accelerator, it takes forever for the car to downshift & go. It stuck in second gear once in SS and hasn't done it again. The dealers keep saying they cannot duplicate the problem. My guess is they won't replace it until it completely locks up....It's been an aggravation that my car does not perform as it did prior to 15K.....

Same thing with the Accord V6 line. Honda was "unbreakable" until they marched into the V6 arena. All 4 cyl. had little or less transmission related problems.

I just got my transmission replaced 2 weeks ago.
My car is 2002 TL-S which was purchased in July of 2001 and it had 14K. It took about a week to order & replace the transmission at Cerritos Acura. It was pretty fast. I am just keeping my fingers cross that it will not happen again.

Tranny update
Just a short note on my bad tranny.
The Acura dealership put a new transmission in my car within 5 (five) days. Great!
They also agreed to pay for an upgraded rental.
I hope never to repeat the experience again, great Acura treatment or not.

I have a 2001 tl with about 14000 miles. The dealer replaced the transmission within a week. I not complaining now becuase it didn't cost me anything out of my pocket. However, what if it happens later... you know when the warrantee runs out!
Do we need to report this to the government authorities so that they have it in their record?

Jap Transmission
I have a 2002 TL-S built in December 2001. according to the window sticker the transmission was made in Japan. I wonder if it makes a difference where the transmission is made.
