Loaded question...

Search/peruse the forum for a few threads comparing/contrasting/debating these cars before looking for responses here. Unfortunately these threads get pretty heated pretty quickly, so if you can find the info you're looking for on an existing thread, it might help keep this one sane.

By the way, most of the threads will compare the TL-S to the Maxima SE, not the GLE.

The TLS hands down. Are you sayin that you alrady have the 2003? Why are you asking this when you have already made you're decision? You must have one of the first 2003s.

You should not race him until you break in your TLS...
If it 2002 Auto then forget it... you would lose...

And is there NAV for the Candian 2003 models?

I guess 3 weeks have passed. Seems like every 3 weeks this tread comes up TL-S vs Max SE, GLE, I35 or G35. I hope we can be sible to each other. To be completely honest with you and save the flames a 2002 Max GLE may beat a TL/S but I doubt it will smoke it, and vice versa. Depends on the driver and mods.

Which is better depends on your defination of better, price, features real vs. fake etc... Regardless they both offer a lot of Bang for the Buck if you want a car with a lux emblem go for the TL. If lux emblems don't impress you than go for the GLE they both have simular feature plus or minus a few.

Anyway seems like you made your decision the 2003 TLS. Leave your friend's GLE alone for the first 1K mi. or in your case km.

The '02 Max SE 6spd will smoke a TL-S
The '02 Max GLE auto(4spd) will barely win if that. (real close race)
The '02 I35 auto(4spd) will lose by a little to a TL-S
The '03 G35 auto(5spd) will beat a Tl-S

The I35 auto is slower than a Max auto because it shifts smoother and slower than the Max. The G35 has a 5spd auto and RWD. Which is car is better??

I would buy the G35 since it is new and has a 5spd auto, campared to a 4spd auto in the Maxima, but the Max is available with a 6spd with limited slip. The TL-S is pretty damn fast though. I wouldn't buy the TL-P because of that fake leather.

Acura does NOT have Navi in Canada, unless the 2003 models do, but I doubt it as Acura has decided we are not big enough to have enough places to use this Navi. Bet you don't have Navi in yours as it simply is not availiable on Acuras,

What the hell are you talking about ?

The leather content on all of your mentioned cars are the same,
re: genuine leather on the seating and back surfaces and matching vinyl on the sides and backs.

The only difference in leather between the TLS and TLP is the perforations in the center seating and back surfaces on the seats, and perf vs non-perf leather on the steering wheel ?

Ginger should be name nasty spice...

TL/Maxima, they bot have the same leather/vinyl content. The seat surfaces are leather, but the sides and back are vinyl. The door trim isn't leather, its also vinyl on both cars. Both cars have fake wood trim also.

Both cars have their pros and cons. It looks like you made your decision already. You made a great choice! Either way, both cars are excellent with an edge going to on car in some area's.

G35 because its RWD and near 50/50 weight distribution. It also is lighter and has multi-links front and back. The engine is torquey, proven on other VQ35DE engines. The engine has direct ignition and variable timing on intake and exhaust. The interior is also bigger while beng more compact outside. The platform is fresh and new, but it's been proven in Japan for about a year now. It has more features and it's ride/handling is on par with the bmw 330i, according to most magazines that had a first drive. Its body is .26cd BUT it also has zero lift. That makes is supremely stable at high speeds.

I'd say that its a mature "sports" sedan with power to back it up.

Can you tell that I like the G35 more?

G35 Isn't out yet there haven't been any 0-60 times published how can you compare a car that hasn't been reviewed (first drives don't count) first drives don't give the mags a chance to actually test the performance of the car.

TL-S is 3K cheaper and the RWD just ain't worth the extra $$ and besides the car is fulgy just like out Nissan/Infiniti cars the A$$ on the car is :yack:

I like the G35's looks. A fully loaded G35 is more the a fully loaded Tl-S, but you get much more options.

I'd just like to defend that Yes my TL-P has genuine leather seating surfaces as do all TLs. Misinformation is abundant on the net.

The G35 has got some impressive sounding numbers beneath its peculiar exterior styling. I would want to see how the real-world number measure up to the advertised ones. Infiniti has a history for greatly exaggerating numbers. Anyone remember their claims for the latest Q45? Hehe, not even close to reality.

Virtually ALL car seats (BMW, Lexus, Acura, etc. etc.) have real leather on the seating surfaces and fake leather around the sides and back.

It's a non-issue.

There is no NAV offered by Acura/Lexus in Canada.. period!
not in 2002, and not in 2003 for sure!!

the only brands that offers screen NAVs are MB/BMW/Audi.

if you want to say you have seen NAV on 2003 TLS or other models from Acura or Lexus.. then they are probably from states OR they are aftermarket screens that play DVDs!!

i dont know where you get your info from, NAV on canadian acura?? wait another couple years man!

I know for a fact that if you order the Leather option (BMW has leatherette & cloth options, Lexus just cloth, although rare on each) everything is leather, not partial leather. I mean, I know on BMWs' that the back of the seat (depending on model) has a hard polymer that "cradles" the seat for support, but makes no intention of simulating leather, as opposed to other vehicles that make you question where the leather stops and where synthetics begin.

"vehicles that make you question where the leather stops and where synthetics begin."

Well if you can't tell where one stops and the other begins then it's still a non-issue isn't it?

Who cares what fabric the rear passenger is facing on the back of your seat? I don't, and I certainly don't want to pay extra for real leather on anything but what I am sitting on.

When we purchases the 3.5RL we noticed that the TL had a lower grade leather, which it should because it is a cheaper car. The TL's leather seems to get sweatylike in the summer time and hard in the winter time (just my observations). The RL's leather is more soft and dry, but nice to the touch.

Misinformation is abundant on the net, but look at this. Nissan said the Q45 would do 0-60 in 5.9sec. CarandDriver got the car to do it in 6.0secs and some publication got the car to do it in 5.8secs. But the car did cause some kinda controversy, and now you say Infiniti has a history of such. One car equates a history?

Also remember that Lexus IS300 did not meet manufacteror's specs until they tested a broken in car. Besides the disappointing numbers the Q45 had early on in testing, it has met the numbers that Nissan has claimed. Nissan also claimed a 6.28 0-60 on the Altima and it has exceeded these expectations. The G35 is a already a proven car in Japan (aka skyline) so I don't forsee any problems in its performance in the US
