All 99+ Acura TL models have standard HID lighting.

So why would you have to change the headlight assembly? And why would you need a kit?

The HID kit has bulbs, ballasts, etc... stuff the TL already has. Why buy that? Look around the forum for HID projector retrofits (I'm assuming this is what you meant) and there are some pics... but IMO projectors on a 2000 TL would look

If you just want to change the color or the light, more purple or blue like BMW then all you will need is the bulb. i belive it is d2r or dr2, one of those i think. thats the size you will need. I hear that Philips makes the best bulbs. the higher the "k" the less light output but the more color you will get, like i said depends on what you want. the bulbs that are in our cars now are 4300k i belive, (the most light output possible) personally I would only go as high as 6000k but thats just me if you search you should be able to find many pics of our cars with dif bulbs in them. hope this helps.

the BMW HID bulbs are the same as the stock Acura HID bulbs (well same degree K that is). They look more blue (like the new TL) because they are a projector type vs the reflector setup we have in our cars. the projector lens gives the blue look to the lights of newer cars with HIDs. if you notice when you are coming up on a car with these type of lights, the light color will go from blue to nearly yellow depending on the angle you are to them.

long story short, if you want more of a blue look to your lights, get 6000k HID blubs (4300k is stock). the higher the # the more blue hint to the light, but the less useable light output on the road.

go to this site to read all about HID lights and setups

go to that site - but you can find bulbs that claim 10000k or more, but they are very cheep and probably wont last long at all because no major maker of HID blubs makes anything over 6000k

yea like i said personally I wouldnt go anything above 6000k. imo it looks awsome and you still dont lose a lot of light output, you get the best of both worlds. but its your car and up to you. but from what i hear i would stick with philips. Also it takes some time for your new bulbs to adjust to their true color, you wont get the color right out of the box it takes like 100 hours or something before you get the real color.

if i were u i would get retrofit...becuz its gives out more lights and gives u a clean cut off line...ima do it to my 02 TL....but yeah go for it man..and dont change the temp of the bulb it will make it look ugly..jsut 4100 or 4300 is good enough...becuz yeah when ur driving in back of people the projectors will change colors anywayz..like rainbow color...so it looks good already...go for the TSX projector or the S2K projectors those give out the most rainbow color...TSX run about 200 shipped and S2k run about 350-400...pretty sure that is the right price...jsut search around....and yeah if u get projectors make sure its D2S bulb not D2R bulb...need anymore info go search around..at www.hidplanet.com

to modify the original with something thats not typically found there.

The retrofit san was talking about is what you want. You want to have your headlights look like a bmw. The only way to do that is to open up your headlights and modify them with a projector style headlamp from another car.(retrofit. by modifying the original with a projector headlamp)

Sorry if I jack your topic, but my question is:

What does it take to put stock 4300 HIDs in the fogs of a 02 TL?

You would need a complete kit: bulbs, ballasts and wire harness.

if you want the BMW/Audi/new TL look, you need to put a HID projector setup in (doesnt look very good on our cars IMO, and you can search this site because there are pictures of a few cars with it done), or just get 6000k blubs that fit from Phillips (the best brand by far) and call it done.

Damn, look around the internet. Philips' website would be a start, if you can fathom the idea. Stop being such a rookie. Chill out, stop screaming, and think about stuff before you post it. You're lucky everyone has been nice to you, as you have asked many a stupid/easily answered question.
