accident: few questions
accident: few questions
i drive a 99TL.. but today i had to take my mom's minivan because of cargo reasons. i got to new york and then i got hit on an intersection by a middle aged asian lady that didnt look before taking a left turn. she was driving an older accord sedan.. she hit front driver's side pretty hard, busted up the brake system (drums, cylinders..), the frame, alignment, and axle.. i dont think that would make it considered totalled, right?
also another question is that, im insured to my TL and nothing else.. the Quest is under my mom's name, so am i still covered? (we're in different insurance companies). I also have two witnesses for the accident.. ugh, this is annoying. too pissed right now cant even think straight. good thing i wasnt driving my TL at least. but my mom's flipping shit on me for not being a "defensive driver" when i cant even have done anything to stop that from happening..

Sorry to hear that aaron. But it looks like it wasn't your fault so the other car's insurance will take care of the damages. In addition to the witnesses, you should have gotten a police report so the other car will be liable.
the cop was actually standing about a block away fom us when this happened. he did file a report, he didnt witness it himself but he heard the screeching and the crash sound. he's the one that went around asking people around the accident and took down their information. i did the same thing.
thanks for the input progz

Sorry to hear about this man. It all depends on your insurance co. I know there are Companies like Progressive that only cover accidents when the people on the policy are behind the wheel. If you have an insurance co. like that and you aren't on your mom's policy, she's
Hopefully your mom decided it's better to pay a little more a year an be covered REGARDLESS. It's not worth it...there are somethings that you save on and there are others you just pay for a STFU...
GOOD LUCK

You will be covered under your mom's insurance policy, unless you're specifically listed as a non-driver.
Call the insurance company (your mom's), and let them know the police report number, and where the car is located so they can take a look at it to assess the damages. They will ask you a bunch of questions about where you were and how it happened. Just tell them everything honestly to the best of your knowledge. They're gonna find out from the police report, anyway.
From there, they will fix the car (or total it if it's badly damaged; if it has extensive frame damage, then it is quite possible that it would get totalled), and you pay the deductible. If there's a mini-tort law in your state, then you could get reimbursed for that deductible up to a certain amount. Ask your mom's insurance company. If the lady and your mom have the same insurance company and there is a mini-tort law in your state, then the deductible would be simply waived up to a certain amount.
Good luck, and glad to hear that you didn't get hurt. Cars can be fixed or replaced; people can't.

you, in other words, your mother the owner of the vehicle and the policy holder will be covered 100%.
You have nothing to do with the car, as you were doing an 'errand' for her. So everything will be fine. Her insurance might go up like 20 bux a year for 3 years, but the asian lady who hit you will definitely be paying.
I would try and make the car a total loss, this way you will get the full value of the car
Good Luck!

yup. as long as your the "right" (not at fault) person you won't get in trouble.. doesn't matter that happened, policy, or whatever.. as long as you're right, nothing will be done to you. but this all changes if you're at fault..
