AC not working - still too hot not to fix
I am not one to spend much time (or money) at the mechanics. Now I have a problem with the ac. I hear it comming on, but no cold air. This is a 99 TL. Where do I start to look? I have the navi, so I could not get the codes by holding in the off and auto buttons.

It may be low on freon. have that tested.
And you cant get codes that way. You have to have a code reader.

More information since it seems like it is never going to cool off here in New Jersey. I bought a AC pressure guage. I plugged into the low pressure port and it read about 120psi. Clearly in the "red zone". It reads "seek professional help". I assume it means for the car. Now what? I did not add any R-134.

The hard part with AC systems is that the leaks are hard to find without a sniffer. It could just be low on charge but you might have a leak. Lots of schrader valves can leak and be hard to detect visually. If you decide to just have it recharged ask them if they can install dye with the charge (most machines have a spot to just add the dye in while its being recharged). This way if you AC stops working again in a couple of months at least there will be a stain (can be seen with a UV light) if you have a leak.
hope that helps.
