Post About the stock Anti-theft system

I am going to get an alarm soon for my 1997 TL, but I wanted to know what components make up the stock anti-theft system. My insurance company said they received information from Acura that I may have one or any of 6 options:

1.) Anti-hot-wiring circuit with Auto shutoff
2.) Glass sensor
3.) Motion sensor
4.) Ultrasonic sensor
5.) Hood restraint and backup battery
6.) This one I know I do not have

It's really 1 and 2 that I am curoius about -- don't feel like kickin' the car or the glass to find out. I know I don't have 3-5, unless they are not working. Thanks for any help you can give.

Welcome aboard!

I too have a 97 without any aftermarket alarm system. I'm sure it doesnt have 3 or 4 on your list.

I left the window down and used the remote to lock the car. I reached my hand in, waved it around the cabin: nothing. I pulled the latch to open the door from the inside: nothing. I was expecting it to start honking or something.

I do know that the OEM radio head unit has an anti-theft system to it, but don't know about the "car" itself.

Perhaps someone on this board can let us know....
