I used Rust-O-Leum flat black BBQ paint, 1200 degree. Sound like what you bought.
Sand the pipe with 150 grit sandpaper.
Use denatured alcohol or grease/wax remover to take off any oils from pipe.
Mask off what you don't want painted. I hung some newspaper over the sway bar to keep it and the under body free from paint.
Put something under the area so you don't get paint on the floor.
Spray several, thin coats per instructions on the can.
Done. Wait for it to dry per instructions.
No warnings, pretty simple really. I also touched up the muffler cans while I was there.

I really didn't i just painted over the rust and most of the people on the cl fourm did as well. still looks good. only took about 10 min. Oh make sure you jack up the car. if its lowered. I also had a flatbed so it was easy for me to move around behind and under the car. and if it starts to rust again simply just paint it again. onlly 10 min process.

Even though I painted it flat black, the surface still looks nice & smooth a month later.
As far as prep work goes, it's all in how you want it to look. The more time you spend on prep, the longer the finished product will look good and the longer it will last.
BTW, NovaWhite, no offense intended.

I'm painting mine triple black (3 coats) this weekend. I anticipate 33.3 hp gain per coat. That is about 100 hp gain. That will bump me up to 325hp. BTW I'm also puting in mystery mod for an additional 50hp just for kicks.

WWW.ACURA-CL.COM, and on bottom it says TypeS.
I've also seen people do the typeS on bottom and have put the red comptech sticker on top.

What paint did you use?

THANKS a BUNCH GUYS!.... with my bbq paint(1200degrees F)
and since i dont got a jack or anything, i juss stacked some wood blocks to make a ramp and then i went under it and just painted it about 4 times(coats)... it LOOKS GREAT!!! cause if i'm about 5 meters behind the rear the rusty y pipe is very noticeable... it didnt even take 10 minutes... like 5... i've just wiped the pipe with some towels and then just sprayed it... it looks great... and it really takes no time... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND on doing this... just go out to home depot or something and just by some bbq paint in a spray can...
thanx again and good luck!!
