About to install megans...need help
Hi guys, I used the search but couldnt seem to find the exact bolt torque specs. 1)Ive heard 25lbs, but is that all around?
2) On the megans does the screw that can come out on the pipe, is that where the O2 sensor goes.
3) Will I need instructions to do this, as it doesnt come with anything. Or is this just a replacement job really?
Thanks

it should be fairly obvious, no need for instructions. but make sure you lay it out on the floor first to determine which is the front and which is the rear header and their respective gaskets.
as far as the torque specs i would still use 25lbs, but i know for a fact i found it in the search so i would check that out. when in doubt go snug and then a 1/4 turn tighter. you will need to recheck the bolts in about a week or two anyway as they may start to work themselves loose. i don't think i would go over 30lbs of torque on those bolts. they're not very big, and as the manifold expands from heat it should begin to seal itself to the head anyway.

I would storngly suggest trying the bolts on the cat before you do the install. The two tricky things when doing the headers are the rusty bolts on the cat... and the O2 sensor..
I had my mechanic loosen the bolts on the cat and loosen the O2 sensor.. the sensor had to be taken out with a torch (heating up the pipe to make it expand) and I didn't have an impact gun to loosen the rusty bolts.. Other than that the install of my headers, im my driveway, was no problem, took a few hours, get some beers

I have 7 hours to do this so I think ill be done in half that time. My neighbor has plenty of tools so I dont think we should have a problem other than sweating our asses off to do this.

HOLY SHIT! We tried to get the nuts off the cat...no go. They are rusted on like anything. Took an impact wrench to them and nothing. Im gonna bring it to a body shop to have them heat the bolts up and take them off. My neighbor cut one of the bolts off the cat and replaced it with a different bolt to see if that would work, but it was such a pain in the ass that we decided to do only one. How did you guys get yours off?

I burst out laughing when I saw you thought it was gonna take 3.5 hours. I did too when I did my first set, but they are a bitch due to rust.
THe torque specs are 25 lbs wet for the 5 nuts on each header.
THen it is 43 lbs for the 3 bolts on each flange.

Put some oil on the threads of the nut and tighten it to 25 ft-lbs.
THe 43 ft-lbs is for the 3 bolts on each flange that connect the down-pipe and cat / the down-pipe and front header / down-pipe and rear header.
