Some mother fffers stole my headlights!!!!! Good thing I got those bastards' plate numbers: A**holes!! Not only did they steal my lights, they bent up the fender and part of the hood.
I hate NYC

How much do they run? My insurance doesn't cover it (now I regret not buying it).

that's the third one this week. Looks like HID thefts are back on the rise.

 

I am glad it is the law where I live that I should have a gun to defend my property. Cause if I see some bastard destroying my baby to pluck her eyes out, I will leave a bullet in his head (preferably thru his f**king eyes) so he will know what it feels like. Mutha f**kers. If they want HID's that bad they should buy one. I am not trying to start a precedent here but if these assholes start getting shot (or hurt one way or another) I think they will think twice before defacing another TL or let alone any other car for any reason at all. Sorry for the long post even though my lights did not get plucked; It just pisses me off.......... :sqnteek:

I'm in the Whitestone area also. Suprised because It's a quiet/nice neighborhood.

 

Any electrical genuises (spelling) out there know how to wire up some type of a stunn gun to juice up some of the bastards that like stealing HIDS. Hopefully there will be enuff electricity in that puppy to hold that animal long enuff to be caught, and have a fresh can of whoop-ass opened up on him. Maybe if a potential thief reads up on how his colleagues are getting beat up he will have second thoughts.......

COTRECIN: if you have insurance, they cover this...unless you only bought a $200one that covers only whenever you crash into a pedestrian...WHATS the plate number? Does the police have them yet? if they ever catch them, dont worry about any insurance, they'll pay for it.

Maibe this are the same guys, you could be the one to put an end to this!!

guyz.. from what i hear you can get a lock on ur hood.. its a real lock that you have to key open and key shut when you close and open ur hood.. it allows ur hood to open a certain amoutn then u gota stick ur hand in there and unlock it with the key and then when ur closing it you leave it slightly open to sneak ur hand in and lock it closed... im gona find out more about it and ill let u know how it is... DAMNN i dindt know stealing HID's was such a problem ...

We just need a sting or something. Get all the NYC Tls parked somewhere. When they come to steal the headlights, we all go out and kick some ass. It'll be like a meet....only with lots more ass kicking. Either that or form a vigilante group and go around lookin for these mofos. :sqntfawk:

 

it happend to me in queens 1 year next week my Ins coverd it but the whole front end needed to be re done fenders , bumber , hood the check was cut for 2500 from the ins life in nyc is tuff
hang in there one of us will catch them in the act and get justice

just came from the shop and hes gonna take care of everything with good price.

he had another 2000 tl there with stolen headlights. stolen at whitestone lanes ...so yea it probably was the same guys because the damage style was the same and same area. bastards!
that makes 3 in queens this week

so tl'ers in queens -- watch out!

 

Since we know it's Queens these last couple of days, maybe get a map and see exactly where they're hitting the cars. Check with the maxima guys and see if it's the same people hitting the same area.... Then we can have the stakeout and the ass kicking.

 

yeah, i saw a TL in the flushing area with the headlights gone...some older guy in his 50's was on his cell callin' the cops (i assume)

 

They stole mine Monday night in Queens. You said that you got the plates, was it a black suburban. If so let me know so that we can get a case together.

By the way to answer your question, the complete headlight cost $627 each.
The cost of my damage was around $3900.

 

i dunno how many TLers are in Queens but what you should do is park a TL in a place perfect for thieves. make sure they know there's a TL there and just wait (somewhere you can see the car) and when you see those fools coming. get out of nowhere with a few crow bars (or guns ) and make sure they never steal headlights again.. i know maybe they wont come and you'll wait a whole night for nothing but i think it's worth a try.. at least I would do it...

Hey.. It has been a $hitty week in queens for HID thefts. I hope they don't hit out here in Long Island.

It was 4 in Queens this week, theres a 2000, or 01 around the corner from me in Glendale that had holes instead of headlights Saturday night. I know inside I would have been the next night but I hid the car back in its garage.

 

Fuckers got me once. NOT AGAIN!!!!

 

Wanna post the plates? We already know the other theft was a black suburban. It doesn't hurt to have a whole forum of NYC TLers hunting em down.

 

here are the plate numbers.
a white pontiac grand prix (older model) with Maryland Plates MVS 194
and light blue dodge caravan with wooden side panel (older model also) NY platesCEH 7948

i think the way they worked was they take the lights out and one car 'delivers' to another place or they one car just holds the stuff.
not sure if there was a black suburban b/c/ i didn't notice. wouldn't be surprised if there was a third car involved though.

I've almost gotten my headlights stolen but thats in brooklyn, lucky i had my aftermarket alarm super sensitive with proximity sensor. But basically they are mainly looking for the ballast of the HID. I'm planning to rewire the ballast to another location of the engine compartment. So if they do take it, at least i'll spend less money on the repairs.
