_Blasted_ a pot hole
_Blasted_ a pot hole
Long story short....going to my grandfathers house. They are donig road construction and basically ripped up the first couple inches of road. Its pitch black and I'm going around ~35MPH. Waaammm, car pulls right instantly. I pull over and my tire is completely flat.
Fast forward...$150 later for a tire the next day at Sears and the handling of my car completely messed up.
I went back tonight and took pictures of it (I plan on taking the town to small claims to cover the new tire, alignment, and whatever possibly suspension damage the dealer finds). I just got brand new Falken ZE-512's about 8k ago along with an alignment so it really pisses me off.
I hate that the town employees thought leaving this monster pot hole exposed was a good idea. I called the police to get an incident report and while i was waiting for him i was watching more and more people it this pothole. One other guy got a flat before the cop got there (couldn't do to much to warn him). Even the cop hit it (but didnt get a flat) and was shocked they left it like that. He throws the ol' lights and sirens on and dumps one of those barrel cones into it to warn other motorists.
Enough babling...pics:
Here you can see if in the middle of the pic. I was trying to take a closer pick but didn't feel like getting hit by a car

This pic shows how deep the hole is. Keep in mind, where you see the blacktop, there is actually like 3 more inches of it (due to darkness you cant see it). I have to get back there during the day to get better pics.
Just wanted to know what else to look for in terms of damage. I had the car on ramps this afternoon and didn't notice anything physically broken or hanging. I think it blew out the shock though....the cars front end handling now is horrible. What do you think? Any ways to test before i can get it to the dealer?

i feel your pain. i hit a pothole exactally like that one awhile ago. i had to go get my rim re-rounded, and a new tire. $250 later it was all better, but it sucks to drop that much dough on something that stupid. i couldn't get the town to help pay, but i didn't have a cop show up. good luck man
I hate the roads throughout New York! I am from Buffalo and the roads suck there and I come to The City on business a couple times every year and the roads suck there. I hate driving around The City so much I pay a car service to pick me up, the roads are terrible there.

What pisses me off the most is that this wasn't some random pothole. As you can see from the pic, they were ripping up the road. Now the worker that saw this hole in the road and didn't think enough to fill it with either gravel or even dirt should be help liable.
Whats funny is while the cop and I were bs'ing we saw a few other people hit it, but a couple others went into oncoming traffics lane and went over it. The copy actually stopped one person and asked why they had a hard time staying in their lane.....the lady's response: 'oh, there is a huge crater in the road. When i drove down here yesterday afternoon i saw it'. To bad it wasn't daylight for me

This is near the 135 (seaford-oysterbay expressway), near the north bound entrance ramp off of jerusalem ave.
