Positive wires are usually red and ground wire is usually black, which indiglo gauge did you get? You should crimp a female connector to the positive wire and plug it into the #3 accessories slot on the back of the driver side fuse box and crimp a O ring connector to the negative wire and ground that on the metal screws around the fuse box area.

I'm kinda of confused when you said you unplugged the wires and they still worked??? You're not wiring tapping any wires on the back..........which DIY are you using?

its not the gauges that change a million different colors...some guy on this forum had a silver tl with black rims..i think his name was Hafids...he has a mini cooper now...its those gauges they change either blue or green...thats it...the DIY said insert the positive wire from the gauges into the #3t slot...but there is already a female connector in that spot...i dont have to splice the positive wire into the one that is already there?

There is already a connector in the Accessories slot? What are you using that for? Don't go slicing wires into other wires just yet, you might cause a short. What are you currently using the #3 Accessories slot for then?

sounds like a loose connector to me. Check your plugs and connections

Did you chrimp the positive wire w/ the female connector yourself? Did it come with a female connector. Check that connection first.

Then does all 3 guage faces flicker or one or two?

It could be loose connections or maybe at the worst case the transformer.

all three of them flicker....and yes i had to chrimp the female connector on myself...the positive wire from the gauges is soooooo skinny tho...could it be that i bought the wrong connector? do they make ones for smaller gauge wires?

I used crimp connectors and also soldered the wire to the connector, just in case
