99 TL Warranty Problems...eeeeeeeek!
My 1999 TL has 47k and the warranty is about to run out and the dealership is giving me a hard time replacing warped rotors and my pads. Isnt this covered in the warranty? The Service guys says that at 47k is more of a maintenance issue. But if that is the case whats the warranty good for. Can you guys give me some good advice to plea my case with them? I want to show up with my guns loaded so to say. Please help-

warped rotors should be covered by the warranty. Pads are a disposable item, so they might not budge there, but most people here have gotten the dealer to include the pads under warranty. You can always bring it to another dealer and have them do it.

warped rotors are a known acura bulletin!
i had mine replaced under warranty, they know there is a problem! fight it!!! kman. they also upgraded me to the big rotors 01 and up, as opposed to our 99's smaller rotors

Usually the warped rotor problem would show up pretty early. In my situation it happened at around 2K or 3K miles, so that might be why they're giving you a hard time. I'm betting that the best you can hope for is that they'll resurface them and you may have to pay for the pads since you probably used most of them up by now anyway.
Keep fighting and good luck!

Usually when the brake pads are replaced or when grooves appeared on the rotor surface, the serveice guys will machine down and roughen the rotor surfaces. However, this will take away some metal away from the rotor disc which then becomes thinner. In addition, normal braking operation will also thin out the rotor disc. As the rotor disc becomes thinner, it is more easy to get warped. So if the rotors have accumulated lots of mileage, it would considered to be a normal wear item just like the brake pads.

re-read your owner's manual/warranty books. i thought when i had my 98 accord it specifically mentioned that items like batteries, rotors, and brake pads would only be covered for the first year or 12,000 miles. for the most part, rotors are considered consumable items and are typically not covered.

We'll see...
My TL is sitting at Acura today so we'll see what happens...it has just over 47K so I wanted to take care of all warranty work. I had like 6 issues.
1) Warped Rotors
2) Left passenger door light keeps coming on
3) outside black door panel paint is spider cracking
4) Center console is falling apart
5) battery is weak (maybe because passenger door light see #2)
6) gas tank button doesnt inopt
think I have enough complaints? They said the only thing that will cost money so far is the battery...$80. I think I can do better myself.
I told them that I want an estimate for a spoiler and an upgraded cia....and if they take care of the warranty work I'd get it done...which is a lie...hehehe!
