99 TL Trans hard shift HELP!

this is my first acura and always wanted one, but now thinking it was a mistake after reading all the problems these cars have. someone help me change my mind. when starting from a stop it shift real hard from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd sometimes hangs, and 3rd to 4th shifts pretty normal. on the drive to work (100 miles one way) every now and then I fell a real slight pulse like it wants to down shift but doesn't. have no CEL's for the trans just the EGR which I have already cleaned the ports under the intake, but now I think its actually the EGR valve itself, just need to get it replaced. already cleaned the solenoid valve screens, what else is left any suggestions would be great!

It only hard shift? are you sure it doesn't over-rev?

Also "All the problems these cars have"? You got a 99 only problem you should be hearing off is Heated Seat element and some minor issues with A/C nothing extraordinary since you have a 4 speed which is EONS more reliable than our 5 Speed.

Hard shifts can mean 2-3 things usually we pin point the Trans as the troublemaker but sometimes stuff as simple as Motor Mounts/Trans Mounts can be to blame too.. Even old ATF can cause hard shifts..

Check the side engine mount first, you can visually inspect it. If it is torn the front engine mount might be broken also.

Yeah, I agree with what they said. I just had the AV6 installed on my 03 and I'm running on the stock mounts at 270K miles so I get hard shifts especially after a cold startup. I'm just too lazy to replace the mounts. Doesn't really hurt anything though.

If you're planning on keeping the TL, ya should've had the mounts replaced with the "AV6" installation.
It's money well spent to maintain the overall quality expected from an Acura. Just git 'r done !!!
