99TL Owner here coming on 3 years this November.

You guys are all optimistic which is good. I am impatient which is bad. You know we all deep down inside look at our 99s and see how old they are getting based on what is coming out. The real 2002 Model year (starting this fall) for Lexus, Infinity, BMW, Audi, etc. year will be incredible with all these new changes.

The 2002 model yyear will make our 99TLs look even older later this year. The Type S didn't help our cause at all either :-). Love that car!

You know it's time trade in our 99s now for new cars. But realistically if you can wait just one more year then that will also be good.

TIME FOR A NEW CAR!

Don't encourage me Acuraguynj. I want a new car now, but I can't afford what I want so I have to wait another year.

My 99 TL is 2 years and 4 months old. I am planning to keep it for a while since I just recently modded it. It makes my TL stand out more and it looks much better now. So I am not complaining at all. In a few years I am going to give it to my wife. Think about it, in a few years the new 2002 models of Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, etc. will also look old. So hold off because our 99 TL is still sexy looking. I don't know about you but I can't afford to keep buying every newer model that comes out. IMO, be happy with what you have because a lot of people can't even afford it.

I just started to mod my car..Next are Body kits, every time I mod the car I love it more and more...I have only seen about 5 TL's in public that have body kits...Not including the meets...I really don't think people could really notice unless they know cars..The only real difference is the front..and it is not a drastic change..I was at stop light today and some guy asked me if my car was the new TL-TypeS...Pretty funny..Look at your 99 TL and look at a 2001...Tell me if you can notice a difference exterior wise..Nope!! So if you want you can just say a....It's a 2001...LOL

April 6 here. I didn't find this site until this year and I was just riding out the car note. I was even considering going for a newer one with NAV, just to make a change. Once I saw the options I could do to my car, it totally perked up my "relationship" with it. Now she is here to stay and grow with me. My rims and tires are on the way and I still want to do i/h/e one day. I love having an "Original" and especially in such a rare color.

I have faith in the reliability of my 99TL. I have heard about transmission problems occurring, but that maybe an isolated incident.

I think mods are a good way to hold you off and distinguish your car from the others, but how many more mods can you continue to make and spend money on? Soon you'll be adding so many mods, you'll start to talk about adding another set of wheels to the car ;-)

Save up for your next car soon.

My 99 TL nav is 37k miles no problems!
Although there is a lag in auto in the low 30 mph w/o using SS.

What's the advantage of buying the car and to replace it 3 years later vs just leasing it for 3 years if you drive under the 15k/mile limit and you don't mod the car?

Many you guys are crazy. Our cars are only 2 years old and you are calling it quits. These aren't American cars, these are Hondas. They don't call it quits till at least 150k miles. I'm not saying that i'm gonna keep it that long, i won't, but it isn't old. I don't consider a 99 car to be old, especially when the shape just changed, barely, in 02. The finish on 99s are also supposed to be the best meaning that they will look newer, if cleaned properly. So just go get buffing done, and relax.
Go get a bodykit. Its true not that many TL's have body kits but it makes the car look HELLA better. I'll be honest, when i first started looking for a car, i saw a WDP TL with spoiler and parchment interior and that turned me off of TL. I didn't like it. Then, by chance, I heard about a good deal going on at a north houston dealer with a black on black TL with bodykit. I said what the heck let me take a look. I was so shocked how much better, to me, this TL looked over the other one. I bought the car, and I'm very happy with the looks of our car. I know my car looks better than an 02 with no bodykit. I also like the headlights of the 99-01s better. It seemed as if Honda felt forced to change some little thing so they made the lights different, but i don't think it seems to flow as well as the original design. I do, however, LOVe the '02 tails and will be getting those. in addition, i don't like our rims, so will be swapping that. But imagine how good a black on black TL with body kit, spoiler, rims, 02 tails will look, better than an 02 in my opinion. I wonder how many ppl on here who want something new don't have a bodykit. the body kit makes our car. get it. peace

Check out the NYC Autoshow and the upcoming 2002 line up for Lexus, Infinity, BMW & Mercedes and you'll see why I am saying that it's time to change our 99 TLs.

However I do have to admit a rim change may liven up the car for a bit.

By the way, the new TL Type S is nice, but you are all right, still the same mostly in looks and BMW, LEXUS & Mercedes were the hot areas to visit during the NYC AUTOSHOW. Acura has to revamp its image to compete against these other luxury brands.
