My friend just bought a 99 TL and needs some info on his nav unit. He has the unit that uses the hard disk not the dvd. His nav only shows maps of Michigan...he lives in New York. Can he download maps of NY or does he have to buy another hard disk. If so...where can he buy one at a decent price? Thanks

The net of it, your friend has to buy a new map or convert to DVD.

 

I did a search.....either didn't find it or maybe i missed the post. Where can he buy a new map? Cost a lot?

I posed this question to someone selling a hard disk on ebay...and he said to go a Acura dealer and have them download the new maps. Is that possible?

BTW: I just clicked the link....I DID see the post, I just wasn't sure if my friend actually needed to BUY a new disk...I just figured the guy(Paul) was trying to sell my buddy something he didn't need or that he could get at a dealer for free.

If the current HD is still working then just go to the dealer and have them reformat and install the NY maps. He can buy a PCMCIA adapter and 512MB CF memory card (total approx: $40) if he wants to keep the MI maps. Call the dealer first bec. not all dealers have the install software
