'99 Tl?

Before I ask my question, Ill quickly introduce myself.

Im a first time car buyer. I've saved a good amount of money. My mother has a 99 TL and I really love Acuras. I wanted a TL but it wouldnt fit in my budget.

The other day I found a really nice black 99 with Navi that fits in my budget. 81,700 miles and it's black. Asked the dealership about service and they said everything was done on schedule. Single owner. New paint (it was apparently scratched up). Clean title and no accidents. Also new Michelin Z-rated tires.

I was wondering whether to go for it (I'm gettting it dirt cheap since they're moving away). I mean, I want a car that'll pull me through college with little or no maintainance req'd.

My mom's TL has had no issues whatsoever so far (79,000 miles - knock on wood).

Anyways, what's your take? All responses appreciated.

Thanks!

That's the thing, it's not a dealer, it's a private seller.

Also, I just got back from taking a second look. The windshield has a small crack in it. What should I do about this? Will my insurance cover it or should I have theirs do it?

Thanks again!

getting it for $9500. They were asking like $11,000. (I'm good at haggling )

Told them that I'd take it for $9000.

Letting them think about it.

Man, that sound like a great deal. If i were you i would even pay $10,000 for it. I hear the 99' have better tranny than 00'-03'. Plus you can have the shift plate chrome for around 3 bucks. I wish my car have navi....

Thats a really sweet deal. The only thing is make sure that it wasnt in an accident or anything, even if carfax doesnt have it that doesnt mean it wasnt. The fact that it was re-painted should be a red flag. Bring it to a body shop and make sure theres no damage or anything

I called up the dealership where my mom gets all her service done and asked if they would take a look for me.

They said if I paid $35, they would inspect everything for me. Talked with the owners and they said it was alright. Plan on doing this tommorow or day after...

thats a really nice price! GREAT job at bargaining

yeah, like the others said... make sure you have the car checked inside out even though the reports are clean and appearance is fine... wouldnt want to find out its a lemon after you take it home all happy, right? as for the windsheild if its tiny dont worry about it.

If everything checks out it would be a good buy. The tranny is warrantied to 100k, and 2nd gen Black TL's look really hot.
