I am finally going to do the most common upgrade for my 99 tlp. TYPE S TAILS. what do you recommend? Do i go with matrix or depo lights? or should i spend a little more money and go oem?

 

planning to do that too, how much are the lights?... lets have all the 99-01 do a groupbuy??

 

i got them off Ebay (non oem) and people said they would cause problems like leaks and stuff but i never had a problem... soo my investment in the cheaper set is still good... just my opinion

 

if you go besides oem, go with www.procarparts.com, I have experience with their products for my other previous cars, they make really good stuff, and they do give a nice warranty.

and to tell you the truth, you will not notice much difference between OEM and aftermarket.

 

The biggest difference between OEM and aftermarket is that the aftermarket is actually made for your car. That is, no silly (expensive) wiring harness to worry about..just plug and play. I got mine on eBay and they fit perfectly with no leaks whatsoever.

 

Matrix racing, procarparts, etc. sell the same aftermarket DEPO light. So whoever you can find on ebay that is selling the cheapest after shipping, go with them. Matrix Racing and Prcarsparts have about the same kind of service. You can get it for around 150-200 shipped. No leaks or any defects. My tails are good after umm........2 yrs?

I had OEM before a truck backup into my light with the tailgate down. You can get OEM from Tim at RayLaksAcura (1888RAYLAKS) for $300 shipped and that includes the new wiring harness. Some people just perfer OEM. If $100+ difference isn't an issue, go with OEM.
