I have an impression that the 99-01 HID are brighter than the 02 HID. They (99-01) have a blueish or purple color.

Am I wrong?

 

YOU ARE CORRECT!

 

Yup you are right the 99-oo are defenitely brighter looking and have more of a bluish tint.

 

Is it because we have the deflector inside our H/L and 02 doesn't?

 

when I bought my car I was told that ours were reduce because there was too much complaint...

 

Ya know, I thought that was the case. They didn't look the same from close up, but from far away they almost match. Damn... I wanted the brighter ones!!

 

This has been discussed before, but the only real way to tell which one is brighter is with a meter, otherwise it could all just be an optical illusion secondary to the difference in hues in which the 99-01 definitely appear bluer.

 

02s are more clear cause the cover is clear and its more crystal like, the 01s are foggy but more bluish...

 

Thank you MR Hyde for your response about the photometer! I've been saying that forever. Anyway, I have owned a 2000 and now the 2002. Illumination of a dark road is the same, while looking directly AT the headlights the 02s look dimmer (most likely because of the diffuser). The bottom line is that they both light up a road equally well.

 

My mother in law has a 2000 TL and we were both leaving one night and her lights seem to shine more blue-ish or purple-ish than mine did (on the pavement). They both lit the road up fine though. Mine appeared to shine blue-ish when you first turn them on but, then they whiten up afterwards.
