My friend has a maxima with very heavy rims, and air intake. We went to a street which is basically a dead end, and there is no one ever there, and we did a couple of runs. His car is a 95 Maxima with stick. Of the start he got me every time, and killed me by 1/2 a car length, but everytime we raced from 5mph, i got him by a car length. So i think the cars are equal, its just the Manual/Auto factor.

I had 1189 miles on my car when i raced, and i feel so bad, i hope i didn't screw up my beautiful engine. I've decided to fix up my car for looks, and performance, but i don't want to race anymore. If i wanted to beat people drag racing, i would have gotten a 1978 L86 corvette or something. Its not worth the risk of messing my car up, at least i don't think it is.
(then again i could be saying that because i lost to a maxima and i feel like $hit..)

 

Try racing a 99 Gran prix that takes corners like a straight away! Then you know that the TL is sport lux, not strictly sport. Learned my lesson awhile back, but still hung around.

1189 miles is alright, break in is 600 miles.
I didn't think 95 Maximas were faster. New Maxima sticks are faster, but I did not think that older ones were faster.

the 5th gen maxima, '95 was the fastest year. it ran a 15.2 (been ran high 14s at track stock!) by motor trend, the new maxima only beats it by .1 of a second.

i'm not gonna bother w/an entire story here, but bottom line is...
a 97 maxima w/FOUR freaken passangers took me BADLY...
i was ahead of him already going fast enough, still pushin the gas though, and in no time i saw him pushin the gas too and woop there he is... and bye there he was.
i feel stupid...

 

My friend told me he was putting a Supercharger on his soon. I tought he already had it in the car when he beat me, then he popped the hood and it wasn't there. Boy did i feel stupid. I was hoping i would see it because then i wouldn't feel so bad. Its not bad loosing to a supercharged maxima.. heck i wouldn't mind loosing to a corvette.
