80W fog lights?
Hey guys. I Know this topic has been discussed, but i need a little more help. My (turns out to be) 4700k PIAA fog light bulbs aren't blue enough for me...i'm thinking of getting PIAA 8000k blue 80W bulbs....i'm really paranoid about putting 80W bulbs in.....questions:
1) can a fire or anything start from burning wiring?....or something?
2) will it get really messed up?
3) isn't there a fuse that'll blow if there's more power than it can handle?
Thanks. Also, if anyone has any experience on good looking fog light bulbs (cept for HID of course) please lemme know. The 8000Ks are selling on ebay for $50. they're regularly $145 through a normal retail store. -shawn
EDIT: BTW- first time making a poll....whaddya think? any tips?

fire? probably unlikely.... toasted wires? probably in the long run... some say yes and some say no.... a fuse will blow? if it spikes past the rating it will probably blow.
I think the best bulbs i've used were the stock bulbs. next best max gold 55Ws

Do you think they die faster because of the wires being thin?

No.. The higher the wattage the faster it burns out... I think it puts more stress on the bulb since the higher wattage is brighter..

Stick with the 55W. I'm running hte 80W and they don't seem brighter than stock. Otherwise, they've been in for awhile and there's no damage to the housing or the plugs.

I've used everything from Sylvania, Eaglite 55 & 80W bulbs and Max superwhite & golds.
My favorite is the Max gold...but since it started to "flake" after a couple of months, I've switched back to stock.
Unless you plan to convert to full HID...I'd have to agree with Bxscig and say that stocks are best.

I know you want the blue look, but for visibility, I went to Wal mart and got the sylvania high output bulbs and put them in my fogs. You can't tell during the day, but at night, I parked my car in a lot and walked down the road a bit. There is an obvious difference between the stock output and the high output bulb. The wattage is around 65 watts I believe. I am very pleased with them.
