80mph hickup

usually my TL-S hickups at 40-50mph while driving on local roads.

Today it produced a hickup at 80mph. That did not feel good.

It did it after I went over the top of a mild hill (overpass actually)

Did you put some "alcohol" in your fuel?

Does "hickup" mean when it feels like the car very very quickly downshifts and upshifts.....a quick jolt and then the car acts like nothing ever happened?

I had that very often on my first tranny, but still get it occasionally on my new tranny....always at highway speeds.

The hickup feels like quick downshift/quick upshift. It also feels like loss of engine power.

A few times I was able to see the tach during the hickup - the RPMs go down about 500rpm and then up again.

It usually happens to me when driving 45-50mph in a steady manner with light, steady pressure on the gas pedal (or on cruise control). It never happened on the highway until yesterday.

It feels pretty uncomfortable - it catches you off guard, slightly propels you into the dashboard, feels and sounds like the engine is going to quit.

Some people say it is caused by torque converter locking/unlocking, some people say it is caused by grade-logic in the tranny. All I know is that I have never experienced this in any other car.

Well, you already mentioned it... but it really does sound like the Torque converter locking/unlocking. Whether or not it's b/c of grade logic is really irrelivant. The TC in this car is more noticable then others... which is why you're feeling it.

Once I started feeling this happen I learned how to control it. Now I can pretty much fully control when the TC locks or unlocks by slightly varying pressure on the gas pedal. I use SS all the time... so that may make it easier too since I always know what gear I'm in.....

really? Every tranny failure that I remember happened in full auto. I don't remember reading any that occured while in SS. I obviously don't remember them all... so I could be wrong
