70,000 miles/Check Engine Light
My '99 TL just turned over 70,000, and the check engine light came on. The car is running the exact same, so I don't know what the deal is. Has anyone ever had this experience or got any input or suggestions?
Thanks......

I looked it up and there's supposed to be a scheduled one at 67,500, I don't know if that would cause it by not doing it. It would be weird that it would wait 2500 miles before going on though...

its just there as a reminder for oil changes
as long as youve been changing the oil, you can reset the light, it tells you how in the manual

Generally the "Check Engine" light indicates a problem with the emissions system... which may or may not be reflected in the way the engine runs... if you can reset it, do so... then if it comes on again, have a diagnostic test run.

actually, the check engine light is more of a reminder for scheduled maintenance. it will show up more as a reminder than a warning in our cars... i agree with resetting it and having it checked out if it comes back on though

I don't agree with you, just for the simple fact that the car has a scheduled maintenance light. Check engine light is likely to be related to something else like EGR valve, oxygen sensor or any other sensor that is malfunctioning.

Damn, 70K miles!
My TL just turned over 50K.
BTW, I believe the check engine light is different from the check maintenance light. To be on the safe side, you should have it looked at.

Have the dealer check it up for you...
I don't think the 99 have the ECU bug, so, you shouldn't worry about it.
Oh, sometimes if you get a bad gad cap, then no matter how hard you try to tight it up, it will go lose and cause the engine light to come on. And of course the ECU can go bad, too

Hey partner, I'm willing to bet that it is a o2 sensor or gas cap. My last Acura did it but the light went out on its on after awhile. It was around 70k also when it came on. Car ran fine, no oil leaks, no running hot, timing belt had been changed. Had no problems.
