My 2002 TL with Navi now has 68,000 trouble free miles. It runs great and looks great inside and out. But I keep reading about the tranny problem which seems can hit at any time. Right now I have the 100,000 mile extended warranty but at the rate I am driving I am going to go over 100,000 miles in a little over a year. I wonder if I should sell the car now while it is still under extended warranty, or keep it and keep my fingers crossed. On the one hand I know most TLs do not have the tranny problem. On the other hand, when I read about how many people have signed the protest letter to Acura (in the thousands) I get quite worried that sooner or later it is going to be my turn.

If youve gone that far w no problems Id say dont worry about it you probably got a good one. however even if it does fail after the warr hopefully close to 150k a new reman one cost about 2.5-3k dollars installed at the dealer.
I love cars!
68K miles is a pretty good indicator of future performance. Don't give up the other good features of the car because of a *potential* problem. My '00 is just about to turn 90K and my 100k warranty is almost up, but I'm not really worried. Car's in the shop now to 2 broken motor mounts (guess I must've been goofing around) but I absolutely know this is the finest car I've ever owned, and being my first Honda product, I'm now a believer! I plan to upgrade to the '05 or a used '04 in February, simply because that'll be my first fiscal opportunity, not due to any fault of this car. I'd buy it all over again.

i share your concern about the transmission, except mine runs like crap though, but it won't die.
i guess i have to wait.
