Thumbs up 6000K is a must!!!!!

I know I must be the millionth person to say this but **** it. Everyone must upgrade to these bulbs. They are truly amazing. My girlfriend bought me a pair for my birthday this weekend and I installed them last night. Now I can't stop starring at the light on the floor when I drive. The pictures that people have posted of their lights do NO justice what so ever. You have to see these lights in person and you will be sold.

D2R is the reflective type bulb that is used in the TL's. D2S is a projector type bulb that is used in BMW's, Audi's, Mercedes-Benz's....The housing for the bulb in our cars is optimized for D2R bulbs but you can put in D2S....I think Mr Hyde has D2S bulbs in his TL-S.

Since I have a diffuser in my 99 TL, I am getting the D2S to blind people even more.

BTW, I saw it on Infamuz CL-S and it was pretty purplish but it was still daytime. I have to see it at night and in person to see the difference for myself.

They would be under HID and click on the link that says Ultinon 6000K. Our size is D2R but some members have used D2S with little modification. $290/pr shipped.

I believe the PIAA bulbs that are being sold on this site are just for our high beams. The 6000K bulbs are for our low beams. Do a search on these bulbs on this site and you can check out sum of the pics. But don't forget the pics really don't do justice. They look 10X's better in person.

looking through the bulb listings for PIAA on site...there are some bulbs differentiated as "low beam" and other differentiated at "high beam"

because the ones on site are cheaper for a pair...
????

Those bulbs(low beam) will not fit 99+ models. We have HID lighting systems and the low beam bulbs that are being sold on this site are most likely for the 1st Gen TLs which do not come with HIDs.

is there any real difference between the d2r and the d2s, besides one being for a projector and the other for reflector. With the modifacation to the ds2's are they that much brighter?

Thanks for the help

The D2R has its light output reflected downward so more of it keeps on the road. The D2S doesn't have that reflective stripe so it disperses light evenlly all around which is focussed later by the projector glass. You could use either one but why would you want to lose light on the objects in front of you by using the wrong bulb?

You right BDI. I installed my 6000k's during the daytime and said to myself, "Now why I go spend 3 bills on this for?"....................several hours later, took her out and DAMN!!! I'm content!!! I'm staring at the ground and everything thats lit up by them:wow:. Very nice, IMO. Looks even more crazy when you first turn them on.

Between the 6000K HID and the PIAA Plasma Yellow ION's, my car looks like a damn Disco!.....what am I doing??

i heard someone on the board say if you want to change the light, you need the tool to get the light out. is that true? or just twist it and it come out just like the HID is?

I think they are refering to the torx style screw that is screwed into the light harness cover. I didn't even bother buying or using one. I just took a flat head screw driver with the perfect width of the screw and gave it a little pressure to start the screw off, came off easy.

The rest is just simply twisting the harness counter-clockwise and un-clipping a metal wire which holds the bulb onto the housing.

It's more of a pain to get to them really, and thats not a big deal at all.

Have no fear.

Cool TuffGong..........now maybe you should convert your fogz to 6000K too .

Devious I got my bulbs from autolamps-online like most other members on the board. As for lifetime warranty, I doubt any bulbs have that type of warranty. I don't even think our stock bulbs have a lifetime warranty.
