The Manual indicates that a 5W-20 oil viscosity weihjt be used. I allows 5W-30 if none is available but then warns to put in the correct weight on the next oil change.
I change my own oil and filter. Comments, recommendation?????????

They're recommending thinner and thinner oils for economy's sake. You will absolutely not harm your car in any way if you use 5W-30.

I saw Motorcraft brand of 5w-20 selling at Walmart. I believe that only Ford and Honda are currently using 5w-20.

Have they always recommended 5w-20 for TL's at least since the redesign? (2000 I believe)

Or is it only the 2002's?

My 2001 calls for 5-30, or 10-30 if it never gets cold. The thicker the oil, the more gas used and the slower the car goes.
