5at in a 99 .

i was told if the wiring harness would accept the 5at ecu (since it comes with a new tranny, this could be told by the vin # on the acura tech computer or whatnot) then it would work, aside from my shifter only going to 4. next on the agenda could someone tell me if this is a 5 speed tranny by the part number....not description that clearly says 5at..

5AT--------L73
part #
acc 06200-p7v-010rm *warranty a/t remfg

cause if so...i might just have a 5 speed in my 99. :sqnteek:

i love my dealer....hand washed and waxed? my car, the paint is so shiny, the rain beads up nicely all over the car (not just on the hood, roof and trunk as usual) and i know i didn't do anything to it.

What about the actual transmission? It's a 5-speed tranny because the gear set has 5 gears. Changing the ECU ain't gonna do shit.

This has to gone down as a classic post.

Well no, he's saying that if he puts the 5AT in a 99, the 5AT computer would be a direct swap.

I would love to do this, not that i hate the 4 speed, i like my 1st gear control and the 4AT's are more reliable, but that 5AT gives you that extra .5 second 0-60...

I would love to do this. But you will never get it for free, if the tranny fails, they will NOT replace it with something from a different car. But it might be worth the $1000 in parts, and the dealer would cover the labor....

If the ECU is a direct swap, id say DO IT!!!!

The only thing would be you would really have no control over 1st like you said, as the shift gate between the 99 and the 00-03 is different, but also dont forget the instrument cluster is different too. i dont know how the 99 cluster would react to a 00-03 tranny...

you understood it....on my service sheet from the dealer says

5AT--------L73
part #
acc 06200-p7v-010rm *warranty a/t remfg

how would i know if it was really a 5 speed in my 99....i was talkin to the tech and he said he would do it if the wiring harness would accept it. my invoice shows the part number above . but i know for a fact if i go into ss on the highway it still only says 4th gear. so if it is a 5 speed did i just lose the 5th gear? or can ss not control it? beats me. when i talked to the tech before my transmission was replaced he said if the harness would accept the ecu then it would only be a matter of ordering the 5 speed instead of the 4.
