55w HID kit?

Anybody running a 55w hid kit with their stock wiring harness? Looking at getting the ddm 55w kit. Ive had the 55w kit on my mitsubishi eclipse gsx for over 2 years without a problem. Just wondering if the stock wiring is ok or if I should get the separate wiring harness.

You can run 35w, no issues since stock ballasts are 35w. I would just stick with 35w, but if you're going to run 55w, you might as well get a relay harness for safety's sake

our housing design doesnt work well with 55,,,lots of glare and not a lot of light on the road - return for your dollar

35 watt ballast, 5000k bulbs is a good combo
our sponsor www.hidextra.com has a complete `kit` with all we need for 59$
thats maker direct pricing~

As stated above, unless you go with projector type of lenses you will get ton of glare.

you are ready- with a 10+ year old car- for new lights,,,working and being awesome are very different
the HID bulbs lose intensity with age and our probs with internal ballast crud growth loses power to bulb

59 bucks to www.hidextra.com for a new system thats cut and crimp a few wires,,a little diy thinking = way better than what you have now setup
35 watt 5000k color bulb

One of your OEM ballasts?
I had the same problem which led me to upgrade to an aftermarket kit. I paid less for new ballasts and bulbs than $130+ for just ballasts. Take a look at HIDEXTRA, DDMTuning, or TRS. Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure the oem ballasts superior to the aftermarket ones since they are more reliable and hold their colour better. I'm not saying the aftermarkets are bad, but that's why even the used ones are a bit pricey. Just remember when buying aftermarket, our cars are single beam xenon not Bi-xenon, you'll be paying more money for something you wont use.

the oe ballast suck, the aftermarket- designed with some 10+ years of technology elapsed between builds = waterproof- miniature in comparison and excellent light and life
who in their right mind would spend 100+ on a single part that's not going to FIX the problem, when 60 bucks gets you modern parts!

If you don't think aftermarket gets as much light, it may be the bulbs. big money (K) brands have certain advantages ,and I am happy with the ones supplied with hidextras kit

The best ballasts you'll ever be able to get, in terms of performance, will be OEM! Densos, Matsushitas, Philips, Hella, etc. are all great performers.

For longjevity, affordability, and ruggedness, aftermarket is definitely the way to go.
