Seems like a lot - tires rot., oil change, maybe a coolant change, inspecting hoses, brake inspection and top fluids is about all you really need.... It's odd your timing belt would need to be changed at 58k - more like 100k..if this is the case I would raise a stink about it!

All the above can be done as a DIY or cheaper at a non-Acura/Honda dealership - but time is sometimes more valuable. Be sure to let us know what they did do and for how much...

acura pisses me offf

juss broughtmy car in to acura service going in for my 54k mile service.. dropped it off.... charging me $600+.. said they will call me wen its rdy... i juss called them to dbl check everything... now the guy tells me that my 2nd clutch pack sumting is bad and that i need to replace tranny.. HOORAY! should i be worried that they didnt even ask for my consent/permission b4 doing so? he tells me if the tranny comes in tommoro.. it will be done by tommoroo afternoon at no charge/cost to me. and another thing is... is it true that because i did not buy the acura at that dealer.. i dont have an option to get a loaner? GAY!!!!. and one more thing... is getting a new tranny as he claims... my odemeter will not be set as 0 as will be left alone at 53k? i think imma juss go show up at the dealer rite now and get some shit outta my trunk and see if my car is being worked on.. if its not and hes lying.. wat should i do? or what can i do?

i mean.. i do feel something weird sometimes wen im driving roughly in the 20mph-40 mph range.. like my car jerking or hesitating to move. maybe it is my engine?

well regardless.. thnx for taking ur time to read and even comment maybe.... appreciate it

My tranny went at 52227, so i think it's time for you to get a new tranny as well.

No worries. There are a million threads on our trannies. I had mine done before 40K. The use some remanufatured trannies, and will install the oil jet to assure enough lubrication of the gearing for 2nd and 3rd especially.

very unlikely you will get a new tranny
the only time they will give you a new tranny is if there are OUT of rebuilt tranny's, and that is unlikely to happen.

but the used tranny is as good as the new, they just use the outer casing, but the internals are all new, so its still good
good luck

well you brought the car in for service part of that service is INSPECTION why should they have to ask you for permission for inspection when thats part of the service?? 2nd if you really do have a bad 2nd gear shaft you should feal lucky that they cought it. that isnt a common failure of our tranny and is what teh recall is for. If that died the wheels would completly lock up and you would have no control over the car unlike the 3rd gear clutch pack problem the rest of us have.

2nd teh dealer ISNT required to give you a rental. its a courtsy.

3rd Why would the odo be reset to 0???? the car still has the original miles on it, your just getting a REBUILT tranny, not a new car.

no its not a new one, but a rebuilt one(ie one with new internal parts), and yes any time you are dealing with a tranny, engine or new brakes you should take it easy on them for a few hundres break in miles

a 1-2 day turn around is fast for a tranny replacement. they must have had 1 in stock. most have had to wait a week or 2 for theirs!

You should be happy. It sounds like you're getting some good, timely service.

It's luck of the draw, and your replacement transmission could last forever, or fail on your way home (it has happened before). Good luck.

As my dealership told me...."it could last 20, 30 or 10,000 miles or die on your way home".......I traded it that moment on a new 2004 RL (at the time). NO more problems !

I bought my car used at an infiniti dealer, I think Im the third person to own the car and the dealer gave me a brand new TSX with the plastic still on it as a loaner. I guess each dealer is different?

Yep, fsttyms1 is right. When you brought it in for service, they probably saw an open recall (2nd Gear Inspection) for your car and decided to do it while it was in for service. They probably saw that it was bad and are going to replace it. Better they caught it before it crapped out on you. Consider yourself lucky, its not fun having the trans break on you while in motion, trust me I know.

And the rental is a courtesy, if its done the next day, you lucked out my friend. Good luck with everything else tho.

May be it's about timing belt tensioner. I believe there was a recall for this. For 50k service, I pretty much did it myself. Inspect this, check that ... blah blah ...

I would be happy to have that service. Also $600 bucks doesn't seem that bad. Or maybe we should have thought harder about that before we stepped on an ACURA lot to buy a car. Good thing we don't own BMW's and Mercedes cars.
