Hey fsttyms1, how long did it take all 3 trannies to die? Can this be a case for lemon law? I am worried cause I am about to get my 2nd one installed.

Damm that sucks sounds like its gonna be little while till you get your car back. They give you a loaner,........you should rack you crazy miles on it if they did. How many miles did the car have on it when the 2nd tranny went.

my 3rd tranny died about 1 1/2 months ago! reached to an agreement with acura about two weeks after it happened! and im STILL WAITING for my new TL. 04 or 05 tl 6mt navi! my agreement with acura was that i pay the usage fee of 3800 and 2000 for the navi. it was a decent offer by acura so i took it. if you need help pursuing the lemon fsttyms1, let me know and pm me. Dosn't the lemon law apply to newer cars? His car has over 150k miles I believe.

they have been averaging about 50k or about 1 a year. and the only reason that they make it so far i believe is that all my miles are hwy. if all i did was city driving i know they wouldnt have lasted any where near that long.
as for the loaner my dealer is booked out till the end of sept due to this recall campaign so i didnt get a loaner, which is ok with me. i just want this tranny problem resolved.

I have been told that highway driving is worse on our trannys than city because the fluid flow restriction occurs not while the car is in second, but rather while it is in 5th gear. All of the gears are are turning regardless what gear you are in. While the vehicle is in 5th for prolonged period of times, the second gear doesn't get enough fluids. I was told this by a dealership. Most of the people with bad trannies, say they are highway miles.

Anyone tried using Lucas Oil Additives? Or anyone seen how it works? I think adding Lucas Additives will keep the gears lubed no matter what gear its on.

My first tranny failed at about 51K. I am on my second tranny now and have 55K. I am worried because alot of people are still having issues with the replaced tranny also. Acura needs to get this right and fix it once and for all. I was planning on keeping my TL for the long term 10 years or so. I take very good car of my cars plus the car is paid for and I love the car. However, if the tranny problems remains, I am thinking to sell the car soon and buy something esle while I can still get about half of what I originally paid for the car. The last thing I want to do is hit 100k and have the tranny fail again and have Acura tell me I am out of luck. No more mods for me. Loyal Honda\Acura fan, but this is just not cool.

It doesnt matter whether if his car has 150k miles or 200K. If his first tranny failed within 18k miles or the first 12 months. Then he's eligible! I thought I couldn't lemon mine either because i had 24k miles. and when I pursued the lemon law, i thought it had to be 18k miles or less than a year.

This is good to know. But what state are you from? Cause I know each state has their own version of what a lemon law is.

BTW, what is the warranty on a refurbished tranny? Is it 1 year and 12K miles or is it different?

as for the the type of driving. very few have that amount of miles on the tranny before they die. leading me to believe that hwy miles is the only thing that got me as far with each one. i dont believe that it would kill it faster. to many have low miles and 2 and 3 tranny replacements.
as for the warranty ??? 12k and 12 month is the norm
