I did a search on this but couldnt come up with anything recent, most stuff was from last year. I was wondering if anyone else does this upgrade other than Rick Case in florida, being i live in NY. and if anyone has any pics or knows anyone on this board that did it on a TLS that i can talk with.
Any info is thx

Bah the last thing this car needs is to be even more nose heavy. And a larger engine will do that.

Nope, Rick Case Acura is pretty much the only one who does it. One guy on the CL board (from CA) got it done by a local shop. I believe he contacted Rick Case and got all of the info, then his local shop did it. You can bet that that voided the warranty though since it wasn't done by an Acura dealer. I'm pretty sure all that's done is swapping out some internal engine parts with MDX parts. I'm sure there' more too it, but I don't know if I'd do that until the warranty expired......

Definitely sounds like they bored out the cylinders. Replaced the pistons, and God knows what else, with MDX parts. I highly doubt they swapped the block for a 3.5. But ya neva know.

My roommate has a '72 TransAm. Just bought a new V8 big block and is having it bored from 440 cubic inches to 467. Then he wants to go EFI and possibly twin turbo. He is indeed a mad man for speed. All this and he wants it to be his daily driver. CRAZY I tell you, CRAZY!!!

baggs.. I think you're right with the boring and swapping, however, I'm about 99% sure that they did NOT swap out the block... mostly internals.

yup, I didn't think they'd swap the block. I thought that's where hemants was going with his suggestion of heavier nose.

now, how much work (more importantly who has done it) to swap our heads with NSX heads and twin cams?? would that require an ECU swap as well as many other things, obviously belts, etc. or what? anyone doing this yet. or are the blocks different?

thinking this would be a fun project, but haven't researched enough on possibilities as well as cost.

To get from 3.2L to 3.5L Rick Case uses the MDX crank and rods... so it's a stroker. No boring at all, and no heavier than stock.

As for the NSX parts swap.. the blocks are different and so are the head mating surfaces, head bolt pattern, etc. so it's a huge undertaking. No one's done it (and for good reason).

If it doesn't fit, you must QUIT.

Cost of doing an engine swap is not worth the gain. Unless of course you whipplecharged it. Even then.....

Guess I'll just have to buy an NSX then. ho hum....

let me tell you guys...i could only dream of having the rc 3.5 upgrade...this is much more than a mdx short block swap that a couple of CA guys had talked of earlier...raised compression alittle port and polish...add a higher stall torque convertor and the HLSD (if it fits...it should)...and we are talking 13.5 easy although i didnt mention the very sticky rubber you'll need to achieve this...i have 2 grand now....if anyone has a stock tip that could double my money in a month or so...I'd glady be the official board member with 3.5 upgrade

What is done to the tranny? With all these problems reguarding the tranny, I would assume they (Rick Case Acura) have to do something to accompany all the added power. Exactly how much of a gain is he saying they are getting? I kind of remember someone having it done on their CL-S, but I don't remember their dyno.

Rage predicted last year that Acura will go to a 3.5 in the TL when it does the body re-styling....

What ever happened to the Mystery Mod?
