2nd Gear Slip When Cold

So my transmission was replaced back at ~70k, and it had the oil jet installed then as well.

Just recently at ~180k, my tranny slipped when I went WOT. I took a U-Turn, and wanted to accelerate quickly so the oncoming car wouldn't have to slow down for me.

I pushed the pedal down all the way, and it tried to go into 2nd. Revved up instantly and car didn't go anywhere.

This has happened about 3 times now, all within one week. It only happens when the engine is still warming up, and drives perfectly fine otherwise.

Think I should switch to DW-1 and hope it lasts longer? Last ATF 3x3 was at ~160k with Z-1.

I'll probably stop beating my car as well.

Personally I would save my money for 6mt. Or another tranny.
Either way you know it's clutches are gone, and you're on borrowed time.
Doing a 3x3 may buy you some time. But not much. Babying my trans I kept it going for about a month.

Mine does the same thing(for 1.5yrs now), tho it only does it when gassing when cold & rolling through a stop sign to WOT. It has done that ever since I got it rebuilt. I believe it's the T.C., but you also already have 100k on that trans. To my knowledge (what a few certified mechanics have told me, ~100k on any trans is avg life span these days )

anyway, i can't afford another trans(or any fix relating to it) atm so ima just drive it until it's dead
love my car too

edit: only way i've been able to ignore this issue is letting car warm up for 3-5min each time after a cold start. doesn't ever do it if it warms up properly

subscribed to this thread so update if you ever find a fix or what the issue is

First off i would stop beating your car, that wont help, especially hard down shifts. With the higher mileage you have there isnt much that could be done. You can give DW-1 a shot, but it might start to slip more after the change. Good luck.

Yea, my problem is exactly as you described. It only happens when its very cold, and I hit WOT at a low speed. If the car has been warmed up, it shifts perfectly.

I'm going to get a 6spd this summer (dunno if I'll tackle it myself or have a shop do it), but I'm gonna have to make it last til then. I'll post how the 3x3, trans filter, and solenoid cleaning help.

they will help clean your wallet of 200$

stop with WOT!! are you crazy? you know its bad clutches and you demand max effort from weak parts? for no reason

try letting the car warm up 2 minutes,,longer is not better for several reason related to warmup program of ecu
That lets the fluid circulate a little and rpm drops- lowering line pressure and allows easier shift into R, then drive away calmly

stop signs mean STOP, count to 3,,1thousand 1,
and by looking each direction for traffic, people crossing street in the shadows,,
people running from the police blowing the cross street stop...thats common- just watch any cop tv show!

there is no such thing as a LEGAL `California stop` anywhere in the country!
and cops love ~rollers~ thru the sign,,great reason to have a chat, are you drunk or on drugs,,is that why you cant stop--a perception problem?
or just a self centered bad driver who cant spare the seconds to follow the law--they love writing up multiple violations for that type driver

easier on my brakes the less i stop...is my thinking (whether wrong or right)
& anyone with common sense wouldn't run a stop sign in a busy area, i'd hope. i'm more talking about middle of bumbfuck where a stop sign shouldn't be, but that's a complete other discussion.

shouldn't have said WOT on my post. stupid edit post time limit wouldn't let me correct my mistake. it's a normal acceleration that causes it. i stopped WOTing after my first trans died at 140k
