240-250 miles per tank

Recently all I can get from my TL-S is 240-250 miles per tank. Is something wrong with my car?

Usually I get 280-300 miles.

The best I ever got was 320 miles.

How many miles to you have on it?? O2 sensors would usually go south on my last car about 60k miles.

Also, the winter time gas refineries produce a better quality of gas as to minimize hard starting. Maybe that's where your good mpg numbers came from till the winter formula ran out.

I guess it all depends on how you drove it with that tank. If I drive slow and steady I can get well over 300 but since I usually drive fast I get somewhere between 250-300 per tank. But the fast starts and the fast driving definitely takes a toll on the gas milage.

I usually get between 250- and 270 in mostly city driving. Really hurt when gas prices were so high, but small price to pay for the performance!

I drive fast, around 80mph, mostly highway miles - 30 miles each way. I often gun it to pass other cars.

Man, you guys must have lead feet. I checked my records and have filled up 11 times since I got the car -- never gotten less than 320 miles before the low-fuel light came on. In fact, I just filled up 15.2 gallons yesterday after registering 400 miles on the tripmeter. I have averaged 25.5mpg since I got the car...

wow pauli, you must be driving like my grandma. Haha, j/k yes, I do drive particularly fast! I think I average 80mph on the highway, give or take about 20mph.
One of these days I will drive sanely and figure out what I really get.

Stay away from V-TEC !!!

The other thing I would suggest to check is the tire pressure.

Cheers !!!

Yup, check that air pressure, weekly..... About a year ago this happened to me, my fuel milage started to sour and I noticed my tire pressure was way down at 20 and 18 PSI, after fixing that problem the milage came back.

My car has about 2300 miles, and I may get 300 per tank if I can drive on the highway some. Most of my driving is around town with way to many traffic lights. With all the lights, and using SportShift mode, my fuel light typically comes on at about 260, and I usually fill up at about 280.

The week my car turned 1000 miles, I had to fill up at after about 230.

You have a heavy feet. I would get 250 miles a tank if i be punching the gas but if just regular driving i can get around 300. Try changing your oil. On road trips i can go up to 400 miles on a tank and that is driving around 80-90

Whoa. Less than 300 miles per fill-up?

I use my TL-S for interstate driving, like my own private plane. I get close to 400 miles per fill-up if I stay off the VTEC and keep it at 80 mph (which I've done maybe once or twice). At 90 to 100 mph I get around 360 miles (my usual driving style). Even in city driving I get 320 to 340 miles. Basically, I strive for 100 miles for every quarter tank. The gas guage is pretty good at breaking the trip down into four equal parts. I've never gotten less than 300 miles to a fill-up, even in the worst conditions.

The TL-S is a hog in big city and commuter driving. Just can't stay off the gas at lights. But highway, that's a whole different thang. I anticipate when I'll get caught behind the blue-haired Buick driver and pull up behind her without touching the brakes.

Yep, totally depends on where you're driving.

On the weeks that I drive from San Diego to Irvine (about 70 miles one way), I get 390 miles per tank. But normally, when I drive from Laguna Beach to Irvine (about 20 miles), I get 320 miles to the tank. The difference is, the SD to Irvine drive is about 99% freeway, whereas the LB to Irvine drive is 90% city driving.

Nope, it's mostly open road at 5:30 in the morning. I fly down it between 85-110 mph.

If your car has a lot of miles on it you should consider replacing your spark plugs and cleanin out your injectors. An engine oil flush might help with mileage too. When my old car hit ~55K I did all these and I definately noticed a difference!

Also, the winter time gas refineries produce a better quality of gas as to minimize hard starting. Maybe that's where your good mpg numbers came from till the winter formula ran out.
Typically, for most US customers, it's the other way around. During the winter, most northern states require the use of oxygenated fuels (contain ethanol or MTBE). These fuels have a lower energy content than "normal" gasoline. Mileage typically suffers 10-15% (I've measured).

I've run 440 miles on a tank, on a road trip. Mostly, I get 320-340. I don't drive the car like a jackass, however. I have an old Z28 for that.

OMG, that is exactly what's happening to me right now, I am going to bring mine into the dealer pretty soon!! getting bad mileage regardless of the gas I use

I don't think it is because of gas in my case - I live in South Florida. It is summer here all the time.

You are correct, sir. Most of my adult driving was spent in Chicago and Milwaukee. The winter blends have 10% ethanol. My gas mileage suffered 10% with that blend. Therefore, why do they do it? Who benefits? I'll tell you; Archer Daniels Midland.

How many miles ago did you replace your air filter? After I changed mine I seem to be getting better gas milage. Also, put Mobil 1.... it gives little better gas milage.
I also usually get 280-300 miles of a combined 50/50 city/highway driving.

I'll second that !!!!
Use to get 25 mpg with regular motor oil.
With Mobil 1 (same driving style), I am now getting an extra 15-20 extra miles per full tank.

Well I now have slightly over 35,400 miles on my 3 & a half yr old 2000 TL. I just hit the 35K mark this weekend I mainly do highway driving with only short runs of less than 20 miles in the city per week if even that. I went on a highway trip this weekend filled up with 93 octane average speed 75 to 82 mph with A/C on.
I filled up again this mourning the trip meter said 390 miles on it since I last got gas Sunday it took slighty over 13 gallons to fill it up. The low fuel light had just come on so I had about another 3 gallons in the tank. So I could have gone about another 60+ miles safely on the tank of gas I had.

damn .. on average i get 260 mpg on a tank .. i thought it was so cool when i got 326 .. now that i see people getting 390 400 on a tank im like wtf?? but then i guess its also cause i use the ss alot and i like to have the rpms on the high end to feel the power =) .. but i dont know when my mileage got better .. its either cause i switched to unocal 76 or when i raised my tire pressure from 32 all around to 38 in front and 35 in back

If your using the stock Michelins that came with the car I'd be carefull running pressures that high. According to The Tire Rack the max is 35psi for those things.
