Yeah, for it's time.....and even now, the 2nd Gen TL's have a very clean styling design which wears well over time. It's too bad that they don't retain their value better. But that may not be all such a bad thing...... for some younger guys wanting a classy and unique project to work on for relatively cheap !!!

Those old school cars that I grew up with way back then, are presently worth 5 times what they were sold new for. Sometimes I'd like one again, but with the newer breed of retro "pony cars" on the market with their advanced technology and driving manners....at the same money, today the new ride wins out over the old classics.

Bought '01 TL with 187K on it back in June 2011, now I'm at 218k. Not sure how many trannys it has gone through, I'm the second owner and the first had loads of maintenance records but no indication of a tranny so possibly still on my first.

Most expensive fix was my A/C system ($800), but I feel like all my other repairs were to be expected (belts can't run forever, batteries last only a few years, etc...) so i'm happy with my car.

Bought my TL with 221K on her in July of 2011. I'm sittin at 270K right now and the original tranny finally went. My car was originally bought in spring of 2004 and from the records it looks like the tranny cooler was installed at about 5K so I guess that thing must really work. Kinda sad to not be able to say that it's the original tranny any more but at least now I can do the Odyssey tranny swap and that's about as cool to talk about. No major repairs since I bought it till now with the tranny. I've done religious fluid changes. Just put my second set of tires on it and I did the pads and rotors as a precaution. I love my TL to death and she's too young to officially die lol. Here's to another 100K hopefully!

'03 TL-S with 217k on it. About to have the timing belt done a 2nd time within the next few weeks (first was done with about 107k on it). Tranny was replaced at 129k. Only normal maintenance done other than the tranny replacement. Bought the car with 29k on it in July of '06. It was bought new in March of '03. No mods, besides a K&N air filter. Might consider headers if the exhaust ever needs to be replaced.

I thought I was big time with my 206k, but from people having 250k+ in the thread, it's making me feel like a scrub.

Bought it for $1000 as a project in 2010 at 200k miles now 230k.
All the dash lights were on CEL ABS TCS and SRS.
The tranny was of course done, Reverse was like hitting a pot hole and 2nd gear the tires would screech, All kinds of rattle in the suspension and clunking wipers (almost got me into an accident) and long travel brake pedal.
3 Years later all fixed and love it Type S swap, CLS wheels and rebuilt trans, Has not let me down

Yeah, 200K and more..... is very obtainable on our TL's.
Just gotta keep up with the routine PM, such as the T-belt servicing and keep the tranny fluid clean. With the '06>'07 Accord V-6 tranny as a donor replacement to our problematic 5 speed AT, you'll have no trouble going the extra miles !!!

New member here, first post.

My 02 TL-P 5AT just turned over 222000 miles. the original tranny was replaced under extended warranty at 99000 by the original owner (my parents) and is still on that tranny. Running like a champ. im about to do the timing belt and reseal the oil pump (the only oil leak) and replace the sway bar end links and bushings. Other than that the car is in perfect mechanical condition.

I wish i could say the same for the exterior. Mother nature has not been kind. Got serious hail damage back in 2009 and my parents took the insurance check and the roof, C pillars, and right under the windows on the doors on both sides are fading pretty badly.

My 1999 TL (4AT) has about 245,000 miles. Bought new in 1999. Original tranny. Changed t-belt two times so far. Nothing significant has broken over the years. The driver's seat heater broke about 2 years ago, and didn't bother to fix. CEL has been on for the past year with P0422 code. Smog check still passes.

Yah!! the TL is a keeper! Im driving it until it dies or some drunk driver crash into me.. 12 years with it:

1st original since factory transmission dead at 98,000K rebuild it in a private shop for 1,300 bucks and still rocking baby!! My 1st transmission is still the original just rebuilt..

2 Timing belt job done at 60K and 120K waiting for 210K to do it again.

Engine oil every 7500 miles with normal oil until 2008 when I switches to Syn then every 15,000 miles

Valve clearance only 1 time at 180K the result was tight exhaust valves and intake valves within clearance or a lil loose.

Around 4-5 different sets of HID bulbs, sticking with 8K Lows and Fogs + 5K High beams.

12 years = 1 OEM shock sets, 2 KYB, 1 TOKICO.

12 years = 3 OEM Rotor Sets, 2 EBCs, 1 DBA.

Front Suspension wise: Most bushings changed to MOOG; All BJs, steering links, original front top a-arms + knuckle + lower control arm, rear suspension all original except shocks! Including bearings.. Front bearings changed once.

At least 7 sets of brand new tires

Lost count on Brake Pads (Think I tested most if not all brands) stick with EBC Red Stuffs.

1 Front windshield (Flying rock)

Still original Ballasts, Steering rack, axles, PS pump, engine, all body and panels, original brake lamps + turn signals + parking lights (All exterior bulbs except HIDs and High Beams)..

If anyone want to know more I have all detailed info on the car!! Just ask!

Im nothing more than a maintenance geek hahaha and like to call myself "skillfull DIYer" The only real original thing ive done to my TL is the Fog + High beam mod

Thats nothing compared to all the stuff fatty achieved so I try at least to be helpfull to other members. Really hats down to fatty! Keeping the 2G Mod scene alive!!! I want to see his build engine rolling.. So sad that I discovered this forum so late into the game..

Cant promise nothin on the meet I dont go to meets at all but If ive got time who knows! Try to spot the stock looking WDP TL XD

To ADD:
ORIGINAL PAINT baby!!! Not sun baked but lots of rock chips!

Well, please do try to make it! It's fun, don't forget it's a bbq pot luck!
Mine is original paint as well, with plenty of light scratches lol

I hope to keep modding the tl for as long as I can, and keep it with me as well.

btw, I'm talking about the March 22nd meet lol, the big one!

2002 TL Types S with 216k miles. Tranny rebuilt at 185k. Motor is still original. Not burning oil at all. I only use full synthetic and change it every 9k miles. So far so good. Still kicking ass! I love this car!!

One thing though. When I drive about 1 mile, the VSA light comes on and stays on until I turn off the engine. No codes. This started about 2 months ago. No performance issues whatsoever. Any ideas??

Much appreciated.

1999 TL
Nearly 256k miles. Original transmission (4sp). All suspension components are original. All factory recommended maintenance performed. The only function not working is the driver's seat heater. On 3rd timing belt & water pump (changed every 100k). On 4th set of tires.

Only took 11 years and 10 months to earn my place on this thread, as of yesterday. Well, that and 3 trannies, about 30+ oil changes and a recent steering rack.

200k and beyond.....! Got one, tell us !-image.jpg

Funny side note...later that same day, we celebrated by "limping" to my mechanic with my first blown ignition coil about 40 miles after the 200k mark.

Oh well...on to 300k!

211000 and counting...

I'm a 17 year old who was ballin on a budget of about $4800 and when I came across my 2003 3.2TL with 203,000 meticulously maintained miles--verified by CarFax--for the past 10 years right down the street at the local Acura dealer, I knew I found something special. Having to convince my parents to loan me the money for a high millage vehicle proved to be a difficult task; especially since they couldn't begin to imagine why I thought a new transmission rebuild (2nd tranny fix; recall was done years earlier but I guess it eventually needed a rebuild--which came with a three year warranty) was a "good thing". However, we bought the Acura in August of 2013 and I have enjoyed 8000 miles with it. The TL remains solid and smooth as she climbs the odometer while my step dad's (originally bought--well maintained) 2000 BMW 328ci needs something new everyday and the thing is practically falling apart. For example, his xenon headlights flash like a camera shot every couple of seconds and the dealer wants close to $700 for the headlight switch that may or may not correct the problem... The TL has lost the front headlight that fogged up and dripped into the HID ballast and that would be an expensive fix from acura; however, I did my research and found this is common and is best to go aftermarket with the HIDs when this happens. So I did, and installed a new housing (replacing the foggy driver side that got worse everyday) and replaced both HIDs spending $80ish on the housing and $30ish on the kit. All in all the TL has impressed me everyday since I've driven it and is much more to me than a fancy accord. 11 to 15 year old cars tend to lose their liveliness while a Honda product will age well like a fine wine
