Arrow 2007 TL Switchblade Key

Hey Guys, i know this has been attempted by the the 7th GEN Accord guys, has anyone attempted this for the 2nd Gen?

I have heard 2 things:

1. Buy this, have the key milled down to allow it to be cut to fit our cars as our keys are not laser cut.
2. Cut up our original key and cut up the new housing for the switchblade and mod it to fit in with original keys.

Found this posting on the Accord Forums.

damn...seems like the 2nd gens have a diff. chip. It can be done but damn...much more work needed than the 3rd gens.

So whose going to be the guinea pig for the 2nd gens?

Wait what if you take a 2G key and take the black part off and stick it in the 3G fob will that fit?

yeah heres my car.

Thats my car when its clean right now its so cross its not even funny. The inside is clean (because I have all season floor mats and dont eat or drink in there) but man does the outside get nasty.

On other note I will be the test subject for this key thing I have an extra key so I could try and see if I could get that to fit in a 3G clicker. Anyone know how much they cost?

Yeah thats my tint too and I agree the cleaner the better and about the key I dont think the swing or pop out. My granddads audi pops out which I think is sweet because when its not poped out its not poking you. I could be wrong but I think they just are attacked on the end and I dont think the key moves like I said I could be wrong.

the 07 TL remote functions do not work in 99 TL's (the one with the black key fob)
I'll try the 02-03 next.

I remember reading a post where someone cut open their key to find the chip, and tried starting the car while holding the chip and the busted up key in their hand.. it worked. So I guess we just need to find a place to stick the key in the new remote? We also need to see if the new remote works with 2nd gen TLs... which is what NYCTL is doing right now?

The immobilizer/transponder is glued into a little pocket on the 07 key
you will basically have to insert your old transponder into the slot after you dug out the 07 transponder and glue the old transponder in place.

the remote does not work with the 99 tl
my 02 is in the shop for tranny work so i can't test the 07 remote for a number of days.

let me know what you found out. I am toying with the idea of hacking up both keyfobs to basicly take the 2gen fob and transfer the guts to the new 07 keyfob and wire up the buttons accordingly and then do the same thing the rsx guys are doing for the key portion.

the guts for the 07 key fob are much different than that of our year. see below:

in fact the buttons don't even match unless you're really nice with the soldering iron.....and know how to remap the buttons....

a better idea might be just ordering and changing to the 07 OEM keyless remote entry module that goes under the dash. Think it's 100 or so on the estore.

Of course this is all contingent if the remote does not work with our 2nd gen TL

i was figuring on doing some remapping of the buttons, i ordered a key through a dealer on ebay for like 28 shipped not a bad price to give it a try. I like the idea of swapping out the module though. Have to look into that somehow.

the insides of our fob will not fit into the 07 at all. It runs the length and breadth of our fob whereas the 07 fits in one square section. see below

thx
michael
this was posted on the accord key fob diy
unscrew screw from main case using a phillips #0
pop open case
remove the transmitter

if you're trying to take the entire key apart, then there's more of course:
remove the 1 silver screw P#0 and 2 dark screws P#00
remove the top plate (spring pops out as well)
remove key blank

thx for the info. I'll just have to wait and see when i get both keys apart, might be able to shave some parts off the circuit board in the old fob, i haven't taken anything apart yet, was gonna wait on the new key first.

ok cool
let's keep everyone updated on the progress as they come along.
the answer on the remote entry receiver module for the 05 + is $48
whereas our 02 receiver is $107.

the question now is: are the wire schematics for the 02 and the 05+ a simple plug and play.....

got my key on monday , took it apart along with the 2nd gen key and it wasn't looking promising to retro fit the circuit board etc, but i didn't have a chance to really think about it yet work is crazy right now. When i get some time i will actually sit down and see what can be changed, etc.

the 07 key fob electronics do not work for the 02 TL.
i tried over and over and over.

next step.......48 dollar for 07 keyless remote receiver. waiting to find out if it's plug and play for the 02

you can get them for $28 buy it now on ebay from an acura dealership. THats how i got mine, 32 total with shipping. My initial look at it is the circuit board in our 2g keys is too big to fit it really anywhere in the new switchblade key. The seller id on ebay is aofeparts then just look for Acura TL 2007 Keyless Transmitter

man i bought 2 of the 2007 keys... for one the rdx.. later finding out that it has no trunk button, i bought the one for the TL... i totally messed up the first one.. tryin to do it all on my own.. (i went and bought a dremel.. glue, screw driver set, etc. :$ :P ) ... it looks UGLY! but the key works with the chip and it looks normal when i close it.. but when i open it.. it looks nASTY!

will show pics if u want....

the other key is still sittin there. i'm thinking about gettin getting my key welded on to the factory 07' key since no one machines it here....

as for the buttons.. well thats a different story.. they dont' work lol.. but who cares..
