Hey guys just wondering if the 2003 tl-s transmission has been updated or modified with all the problems they were given people?

 

As far as i heard. The 03 tranny still have problems. There are some members in this site that have problems with their 03 tranny.

 

supposedly the "late model 03s" were fixed... i dont know which group that wud fall under and when the cutoff was for the socalled "fixed" batch but i got mine at the end of august and im still wondering about the tranny (i dont have the S though)

 

I have an '03 TL-S that I bought in April of this year. My transmission died on 11/14/02, with 22,600 miles. The dealer told me that the first 5200 TL-S's that were built for the '03 model year are in the pool for "potential" tranny problems. My car was #1832. They said that the problem was then fixed and that it was something related to the tranny fluid overheating and destroying a bearing in the 3rd gear clutch pack (not the exact words, and I'm not an expert on transmissions, so I have no idea what that means!!) Obviously there could still be tranny failures in later '03 models, but according to my dealer, these problems are unrelated to the problem at hand..........

 

How do you know which # 03 TL-s I got? Is it the end #'s of the VIN? If so, I have .....A051264, so I have the 51,264th one made?
