Leasing my new TL-S last Friday, when I mentioned the history of tranny problems the salesman smiled and said it was repaired for the 2003 model year. I wonder, particularly since the '03 came out so early, though my TL-S w/nav just arrived on the lot last Wednesday and I assume was recently manufactured [will find out exact date] so I assume tranny now OK.

 

That is not true, many members here have posted transmission failures on 2003 models.

 

It was not fixed for 03 but it is fixed now. I would say that if yours was made very recently then you should be ok.

 

It's been something like three members claiming to have tranny problems with an 03 TLS I believe so I certainly wouldn't call that "many". If true it's still too high though.
