hard to say...these guys around here tend to think with the addition of the typeS variant and the minor cosmetic changes that the TL wont be redesigned next year...why i dont know cause the maxima has done just that...255hp increase minor cosmetics and next year a complete redesign...so time will tell...

I doubt that will happen. Why would they release a 2003 during March? That doens't make sense to me. I see changes only happening at the end of 2002. I'm not gonna get worried and I will enjoy my 2002 in 2001

Follow Honda's tradition, TL should be one year behind Accord... if new Accord isn't out in 2002, it would definitely be 2003/2004... so, re-designed TL shouldn't be out 'til 2004/2005...

Maxima has been out for a LONG time('96, I believe)... there are several facelift for Maxima(more than TLs)...

the 2003 TL will be released in Mar/April with a 6-spd tranny but minor if any cosmetic changes, performance wise nothing has been released, but i am sure that honda and the owners are satisfied for the time being. oh yeah, and new colors are supposed to be available, one or two

and you got this info from...?

I dont think acura will bring out the 6-speed TLS this soon. Im sure the CLS will get the 6-speed first, then put it in the TL. They need to drive the market up for the CLS. I think the way they can do that is putting the 6-speed in the CLS only, or at first.

Plus if you guys read up on acura, they said the 2002 is the 3rd generation TL. Which means they consider the 2002 new. They wont change it that much for 2003 model.

Also remember when the 2001 CLS came out in spring of 2000? The 2002 CLS models didnt come out april of 2001... they JUST came out, and its October. SO im thinking that since the 2002 TLS came out in March of 2001, that the 2003 model TL wont be out till fall of 2002. Thats my thinking.

ALSO Acura is weird, and they do change some things in the middle of year production. Just like the color change for the 2001 CLS. They had that gold out for it, then they dropped it and added the ageam blue to the lineup, keeping it all the 2001 models. So who knows what acura will do.

Oh and i cant drive stick so im not mad if they do put it in.

You are right. No matter when we purchase the car. There is always something better down the road. But for an one year model car, it is just happened too fast.

Totally agree the CLS sales are down....I saw a fairly new CLS with navi and 1200 miles on sale for 26k...so if you're looking for a deal.....

Acura seems like they change every 3 model years. Like the 96,97,98 TLs were the same, as so was the 99,2000, and 2001s are the same. NOW that the 2002 is out, i dont think they will change it will till the 2005 model year. IMO. I mean the same was with the RL. 96,97,98 they were the same, then in 99,00,01 it had a facelift. Now the 2002 RL is so called "new" with its new engine. SO i honestly dont think the TL will even change in 2003 model year.

Well... the 02 is essensially the same as the 99-01 with some upgrades.. Honduh won't be changing the 03 IMO.. they are always the lemmings.. why change it when the TL-S sales are hot right now?

With Nissan, and Lexus doing redesigns of their cars, Honduh will soon follow.

btw, the new Altima is hot!

He he... you guys crack me up. This type of conversation has been going on forever.....

The CL-S is getting the manual first, and the word is that it may not be until fall 2002 as a 2003. The TL-S will be going back on it's regular production cycle (2003 coming out in fall 2002), just like the CL-S did. Also like the 2002 CL-S, rumors about a manual, bodykit, redesigned front end, etc. were swirling around, confirmed by dealers and websites, etc. Guess what.... the '02 CL-S came out about a month ago with no changes except body colored rear view mirrors. That's about the only cosmetic change. The rest were little things. You guys need to relax and just wait until Acura makes a statement. I mean, they introduced the TL-S in January, 3 months before it's March release. Don't you think they'd do the same thing again? Stop believing everything you see and hear, it's not healthy......

Talking Just trade in your 2002 TLS

:p For those who wish they had waited for the 2003 TL which will be redesigned and will have more features ... just trade in your cars in March 2002. I mean what else can you do ? I guess thats the only solution for a peace of mind .... otherwise just look the other way when you see a 2003 TL passing by

Thumbs up

I know this is kinda off-topic, well off-model but I was at my Lexus dealer today in Boston and he has heard a strong rumor, which has also been substantiated from another ClubLexus reader whose dealer (in FLA) also said this, that the new GS300 coming in 2003 (as a 2004) will come standard w/350HP, and the new GS430 will have 390HP(w/optional 6-speed). The understanding is that they are aiming squarely for the next gen. 540 and current M5. By this time who knows what Acura will have up it's sleeve HP-wise, maybe a TLS-Type R ?? Would you be willing to shell out a little more dough for around 350HP ?? It will be an interesting next couple of years for us all

It doesn't make sense for the two to be only 40HP apart. They sell for $10k and 80HP apart right now. Maybe 300 vs 380HP later.

Every day I say to myself, "self, you should have bought a manual trans" Then I think, "self, your car isn't available with a manual trans" Then I think, "DAMN!"

To the guy who commented that the 2002 TL is basically the same as the 2001, I drove a 01TL for nine months before trading it in for the '02 TL-S.

I believe it when Acura says they made 500 changes to the car. There were so many subtle differences between the two cars. Not so much cosmetic, but tangible differences in the way the car feels, sounds, rides and responds.

Acura has been devoting their engineering time to the soon-to-be-announced RL, the new NSX, the RSX and before that the TL-S. I don't see them coming out with anything particularly evolutionary in the TL for another year. The car is doing well, and it's only been out for seven months for Chri$t's sake!

I hope to see an anthracite grey TL-S and one other new color in the fall. I hope that's all they change.

Anthracite gray on a TL-S would be outstanding!
