Is it true that all 2002 TL-S came standard with Navigation?

If so, how did I just buy an '02 TL-S without Nav?

I wish it were that simple. Either they all came with nav or they didn't. And I have several Honda/Acura techs telling me they *all* came with Nav and that mine is either an oddity or a fake.

no shenanigans...navi is an OPTION on our cars.

not all TL's have navi.

i drive a 2003 tl-s withOUT navi

edit: wtf where are these honda/acura techs educated? or maybe you misinterpreted them?

all the Navi equipped cars came with Navi
But not all TL's came with it

Whats the production date of your car?

we arent trying to misinform you.

chances are alot of the time you can find the answers you need HERE before calling acura.. its a sad truth.
the fact that there are hundreds of people here that roam the 2G tl forums every week/month should make you feel more confident in taking some of the answers here. one member already said his Type S doesnt have navi. no more worrying. just call them back and laugh at them.

Did pre-02s even have the option of having Navi or not? I can't recall correctly.

But 02+ 2nd gen's all had the OPTION of having it. How did those techs mess that up? Maybe they were thinking about the new generations, but I think those all also have the OPTION of having navi.

they look at the work order, install the new parts and go to the next car

Yes nav was an option in 01- mine was a special order car to get it

Navi adds 30 whp due to fuel remapping because the gas uses the optional navi to find the cylinders faster than non-navi equipped TLs. The exhaust then goes through the navi system and pushes a turbo that makes the navi zoom in and out faster. It is then pushed from the navi out through the dual exhaust.

jk, I have a friend that has a 01 TL with Navigation. All TL's, 1999-2003 had the option of having the navigation system.


Ask your dealer what color TL was the fastest, and they'll say WDP. Then, find a new dealer.

My friend had an 01 TL with navi and the salesmen she bought it from said the car was custom ordered in 01. I thought they were just messing with her.

I may be wrong then when I said 99-03 navis were optional.

no its an option....its like asking for the upgraded sound system..or the kit....somtimes the dealer dont hav the car sittin there in the color you wat..so you'll hav to wait til they order it and is has to be shipped...they try to make you the future ownerfeel special by using words like that....and obviously som ppl fall for it

Well since the last generation Type S came with navi standard, the guy must've thought the previous generation Type S did as well.

imma call BS... guy that owned my 99 before me, said he bought it right off of acura's lot. with navigation.

didnt say he ordered the car. just walked up one day and bought it.

back in 2000, if a dealer has ordered a car with navi- then one will be on the lot to buy
Or they can order a car with navi for you
They order colors and combos and equipment and see what acura gives them based on sales reviews/rewards

The 99 had a different nav system with sd cards or something like that-
the 00 on-- went to dvd drive for it

99-03 Only factory installed option available was the Navigation System. 99 was hard drive based 00-03 was dvd based. People have used Compact flash cards in the 99 hard drive when their hard drives go or to upgrade to the latest maps off the dvd discs. All other things like oem kits, spoilers, etc are dealer installed options. There is nothing "special ordered" about our cars.
