My friend has a ^^^(read topic), with a CAI and a chip ugrade. He says he will beat me by a full car. I dont think he will beat me at all. He also has a custom system thats gotta weigh like 2-300 lbs. What do you guys think? I wanted to race, but he said he had to go, he'll race me at a later date.

 

I'm not quite sure how much power you're going to get out of a chip upgrade (I doubt you get an extra 25+ hp like you do with some Audis though), but I'm guessing CAI isn't going to give you much more than maybe 10-15hp ... Assuming he can make 230hp with his mods, the weight of his system puts his Eclipse weighing in about 200 lbs lighter than your TL-S. The Eclipse gets a fairly decent amount of torque (200 ft-lbs), but not until 4000rpms, while the TL-S gets its max torque a little earlier at 3500rpms ... If he's a really good manual driver, he could probably beat you. Either way it would be a good race to watch. I don't know if he'd be able to beat you by a full car length either... unless that chip of his gives him alot more hp than I'm guessing..

 

Well, I can tell you a friend of mine has a GT v6 eclipse, I think its a 02. But anyways, without NOS, I leave him bad, with NOS he barely edges me.

 

I definately thought I would beat him, but he was so sure of himself. I'll race him the next ime I see him and i'll keep you guys posted.

 

if he can get a decent launch I would give him the advantage with the manual tranny. His chip and intake probably give him 10-15 hp. He makes less peak hp than you but probably puts close to the same power to the ground. It should be a good race....go for it and let us know what happens.
