2002 Acura TL Type S Headlight issues
2002 Acura TL Type S Headlight issues
Hi everyone, new to the forum, any advice or assistance is very appreciated.
I bought a used 2002 TL type 2 and I continue to have headlight issues. I have replace both ballasts and bulbs.
Here's what it does, when I first turn on the car & headlights, everything works, no issues, but as soon as I stop somewhere and turn the lights & car off. In 10-15 minutes when I'm heading back on the road only One headlight will turn on, usually the driver side. I can try turning them off & on again and sometimes only the passenger light comes on but never both unless the car sits longer than an hour or so???
I'm sure there's probably a thread on this, any help would be great. I'm just wondering if I missed replacing a switch or fuse or something.
Thanks!

what did you replace them with? the oe parts-- used are worthless!
The ballast get dripped on by moisture draining from inside a leaking headlight housing!
That fries them, takes out the inverter/ignitor and eventually bulb failure
Open up a failed ballast and it will be rust filled.
Most of us go with an aftermarket kit- from 60$ to 200$ depending on maker
hidextra and morimoto are examples of what is good at each end of the price range.
Modern technology has a much smaller ballast and filled with epoxy or silicone making it water proof, connections have rubber orings!
Way better than the 20 year old technology on there now
Easy DIY, several threads on the subject
get 35 watt ballast and 5000K color bulbs to best see objects on the road
Dont need extra relay- car is equipped with HID - its just a parts swap not a old car to hid conversion
It wont hurt to remove the headlight relays and swap them- spray CRC cleaner on parts- occasional failure of those,
but what you describe is the need for a kit =same as everyone else with this problem. Age hurts
Its crazy symptoms with alternate side failures and flicking switch gets light back on..
look thru the thread titles and see Low Beam as a popular item
good luck and welcome to the forum!
