I apologize it's a 2002 Acura TL with 165k

The car will only drive if I start off in D1 if I try to take off in D4 it just revs up

Car-part.com has twelve pages to consider nationwide & in Canada.
If I want to keep my 2003 CL-S, with its already rebuilt automatic transmission from the crusher, in goes an 06-07 AV6 AT.
The Odyssey's automatic is not even in contention.

Good to know there are lots to choose from. Why is the Odyssey not considered? Is it because the transmissions were fixed for 2006 and before that year, they were problematic?

If it is your desire to consider / use an Odyssey transmission in the event of a factory auto trans. failure, then .
Although it may be more expensive, the 06-07 AV6 swap rationality is my personal choice because it's thoroughly documented / proven with factory changes to increase its reliability.

Here is a quote from a forum member who performed the AV6 swap on his TL-S found with a cursory search.

I see that your location is in California (thank you for filling that out btw) there are a lot of shops here that will ship it for 50-100. Have you tried asking? There really isn't a more reliable solution as the odyssey's transmission was too affected by the design flaw that made our transmissions wear out so quickly. Another note: the accord trans is pretty bullet proof, so if you can get one with less than 100K miles, you should be good to go.

Okay, AV6 it is then. I see several in my area here in western WA for around a thousand. I imagine a lot of shops would turn down the job of installing it because of liability purposes or some other excuse?

I wanted to change the fluid yesterday but the parts dept at the Honda dealer was closed so I have to wait until later today. I'm going to do the 3x3 (tried draining the fluid last night but I need a pipe for more torque; it's on there pretty good lol).

And I realize I kind of hijacked this thread but OP hasn't returned after 8 days and has made only 2 posts on AZ, so I figure he's gone for good

Perhaps.
It's all a roll of the dice.
If one goes the route of using a low mile reasonably priced 'salvage yard' 06-07 AV6, it is best to shop for & find a local Acura/Honda specialty shop to perform the work. Bring the attached document below, as it explains and shows what is involved with the swap.
Hopefully, you'll run into someone (mechanic) who is flexible & open minded enough to help you out.
OR
One could opt for a remanufactured AV6, like the example below:

You could purchase any of the extended warranties listed above?
The only problem that may arise is how the $750 core charge is handled because they (the reman. transmission vendor) would not be receiving a like wise BAYA Honda Accord unit in return. Upon examination of your TL-P unit, they could possibly deny a 'core' refund, which is substantial.

OR
You could perform a DIY AV6 swap and contend with all or any issues that may arise?

no, i was definitely referring to quantum field theory and its application in designing the original transmissions on this generation of cars hence why it's such a nightmare to try and troubleshoot
