Hi all!

I have a 2005 RL that was having transmission issues stemming from a blown trans cooler, eventually got bad enough that I opted to replace the transmission with a JDM transmission. Found one for 300 bucks, and put it in yesterday. On the test drive, the car ran, drove, and shifted fantastically for about 10 miles. Then all of a sudden it was like I shifted into neutral while driving down the road, and I had to pull over. Eventually it shifted into first gear and wouldn't shift past that, so I limped it home. At home, Drive and Reverse act like neutrals, but if you sit with it in gear for long enough, it MIGHT engage and you can drive for a minute. The fluid level looked good

I hooked a scan tool to it and pulled up a couple codes,
P0767 Shift Solenoid Valve "D" Stuck On
P1745 Shift Malfunction M
P1780 Transmission Default Mode
4E03H/19971

I cant find any information on the last one. I am going to try swapping solenoids from the old transmission and see if anything changes, but in the mean time, does anyone have any further input? I am really hoping this "new" transmission isn't junk, I really don't want to do that job again haha.

The car is also having keyless entry/door lock/radio issues. It was doing this before I swapped the transmission, but it could be from the car sitting while it was waiting on a new transmission. It was not doing this before we stopped driving it. Keyless entry isn't working, have to start it with the physical key, door locks won't work at all (other than physically flipping the lever on each door), the infotainment screen isn't turning on (radio and climate controls work though). The scanner pulled up 17 (?!?!) codes related to that
P1055, P1056, P1060-65, B2135, B2141, B1605, B1610, B1613, B1614, B1615, 359147H/3510599, and 359149H/3510601

A couple of those codes seem related to the transmission, is it possible that the 2 issues are related, or just coincidence?

I have not tried putting a new battery in it, but I did fully recharge the battery that was in it.

Can anyone give me any pointers on where to start for either issue? I am completely lost here. Thanks in advance!!

 

17 trouble codes... Well, I'd clear all of them first. Dead batteries will trip a lot of false codes. It is certainly possible that the issues between the trans and radio are connected. See if they share a ground or a similar location on a wiring loom/fusebox. Some guy on here had a bunch of random issues not too long ago and it turned out that something had screwed with a wiring loom that they all shared. Manual says to spill the atf too see if there is excessive metal in the fluid. If there is, you are doing this again. Maybe post freeze data if you can? Might help some of us figure this out. Oh and P1780 is just a standard code for when shit goes wrong in the trans. Like 77-1 for the SH-AWD.

 

I did clear the codes that day, unfortunately they did come back. None of the systems starting working again. The car sat for about a month before I replaced the transmission, I actually drove it to the shop that day and the battery was dead as a doornail. I noticed those issues after got it started, so it's possible some moisture or a mouse or something got in there while it sat.

I'll see if I can get some freeze frame data, and I'll try to look over the wiring here soon

 

I think she needs a new transmission. I drained the fluid today and its burnt and full of metal. With only 15 miles on it :/
