2001 tranny operation / performance questions

Hi all, a new member here.

The transmission is just about the only component that I am
not fully pleased with in my TL. I have had no failure but rather
annoyances with the way it feels. It's a 2001 TL

Can you guys tell me if the following is 'normal' and wether
it spells potential problems. Also, has anyone else fely the
same way about these idiosyncratic problems:

- I notice that it takes longer to get into gear when starting
than other cars I have owned. Shifting from reverse to drive
yields an engaement, a slight pause and then a wierd
secondary engagement before feeling safe to drive off.

- Shifts are annoyingly sharp and abrupt when cold and noticably
smoother and slightly longer when hot. Very UN-luxurious
feeling. I have an older Camry V6 XLE and by comparison the
Camry's shifts can hardly be detected, with no slipping. The
Acura field MUCH cruder.

I have not noticed any of the skipping or slipping problems
than some have that preluded failure.

Has anyone else felt this way or noticed these behavioral
quirks?

Thanks,

/Steve

My 99 tl tranny behaves the same way. I was wondering the same thing. Can some shed some light on this? Thanks
