Post 2001 TL vs. 2002... What would I lose out on?

I'm contemplating going for a 2001 TL now that they're selling for invoice (hell.. in some cases, below) in my area. Am I to understand the ONLY differences are: Updated tail-lights, nose-job, memory seats, 6-disc in-dash player, new steering wheel emblem, some new exterior colors and new style wheels. I mean, they haven't changed anything major right? I mean, the rear seat still doesn't fold down does it? I'm just trying to decide whether picking up a 2001 now may be the deal of the century because they aren't dealing AT ALL on 2002's... selling for retail (Until the 2001's are gone). I actually like the styling of the CL better than the TL (a little boring... not ugly or anything) which shocks me because I'm not really into 2-doors (although, I usually drive alone anyway). What advantage would there be to going with a 2002? (remember, I'm not talking TL-S... just TL.

Since you dont want the TYPE S, I can't see any reason to get the 02 @msrp over the 01 @invoice. Get the "old" TL along with navigation.

Well if you are short there's the possibily the that the '01 will punch your teeth out with the airbag. The '02 has dual speed bag.

I think I read somewhere that the seat does fold down in the 02. Is that true?

If this car was for me I'd get the 01. The wife wants an 02 because it's "new".

Actually she's short so I do like the dual speed bag.

You're in pretty much the same boat I'm in. I couldn't see paying the extra money for the difference between a 2001 TL and a 2002 TL-S. After doing a price breakdown, it was going to cost me $140/mo more to get an S, and I wasn't willing to go that far with the deals that are out there on the 2001's.

If you just want the regular TL then get the 2001 model and save some money.

I went for a 2001 instead of waiting for the '02. It was a win-win situation for me since I don't like the new front end styling, and I saved a lot of money.

Thumbs up

Ditto to BlackShadow. Now is the time to save big money on all 2001 TL's and CL's(man, I sound like a car dealer commercial).
