2001 TL - Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap for Interior Trim

Hey everyone!

So I just purchased a roll of carbon fiber vinyl wrap to cover the woodgrain trim on my dash since I'm getting sick of it a little bit. Has anyone ever done this before in a 2nd Gen TL, and is there an easy way to remove some of the trim out of the car so I can easily wrap the vinyl around it? Any feedback is awesome.

have you looked for threads on the subject, I know some parts of the interior have been done with wrap and pics posted
and there is a diy for the exterior `B` door pillars between front and rear doors- when the stock stuff wrinkles and looks bad

ck gen3 as well- those guys tend to get extreme with the appearance mods
look in the diy list to start
Sounds cool- have fun!

Think I saw some on YouTube too. Tedious process! Not sure I'd cover the wood trim in case I ever sold the car and the future buyer didn't like it, would it leave a residue on the plastic? Or is it easy to get off? I've wanted to get a small section of the Di-noc to test it out and see what it looks like but I think I'd practice first on some pieces I didn't need as much or were as visible.

In most cases decals on top of plastic will be illreverseable... especially if it's on for a while... say a year or so.

The glue will be baked into the plastic from the summer heat. In order to remove the decal you would need to use a mild solvent. And we know solvents and plastics do not mix.

To install the decal you will need a squeegee and soapy water. The squeegee is to squeeze the air bubbles out and the soapy water works as a lubricant- to buy time in removing the air bubbles.

So just saturate the part and the decal with the soapy water. Put the decal on the part and position it where you want it. Because of the soapy water it will kinda float on top of the part. Now squeegee the air bubbles/water out.
Basically thats how's done.

You can use an actual squeegee or a plastic speader, does not matter. Sometimes a firmer edge works best. What matters is whatever you use as a squeegee make sure it's not going to scratch the decal easyly. Round off any sharp edges.
