2000 TLP-98 Lude

aight so i have a friend that just bought a 98 2.2L prelude. I am planning on racing him, but a lot of people are claiming that he will take me. I know his car is bone stock but i have intake and exhaust. Will he really take me? (oh and it is manual)

Well Intake and Exhuast doesn't really add up the HP like a header would......So we're comparing two cars.

Acura TL-P
225HP + 11HP max from I/H? = 236HP
217 Torque
3483 Lbs
Auto

Honda Prelude
195 HP
156 Torque
3009 lbs
Manual

Umm its hard to call. You have better horse power and torque but you're also heavier. If he's good with a manual, he might take you. But I think you should race and see. Hard to judge cars just based on specs unless the difference is overwhelming. You have the stock Michelin tires? I was thinking you can get the jump on him at the line but not with those tires (they don't grip for ****).

But my wheels are pretty light. I honeslty dont think i can take him now, but it might be a good race. ill prob race him in like 3 days. Oh and he is pretty damn good with a manual.

haha yeah..he'll take you. Auto trannies lose way too much hp to the wheels compared to manual... Unless he misshifts..u never know.

I give the nod to the Lude if it is a manual.

Stop the wunderin' gentlemen and start yer engines. Why don't y'all go down to the track and find out for yourselves. If you can't race side by side, do time trials. Don't forget to tell us know who prevailed.

I've beaten a few preludes on the highway before (don't know if it was a stick or auto). And I even gave them a headstart. Oh and I also have I/H, heavy rims and a system in the trunk.

Either way, it's a friend so have a friendly race. Stop guessing and just race already.

my friend has a stock 2000 prelude manual and I beat him hands down with my '99 TL. I do have intake, exhaust and headers, but I still had beat him before I got the headers. The preludes have lots of potential and minor mods can give you sustantial gains, but stock they are not THAT quick. It's only reasonable in the 5500-7500 rpm band when the DOHC VTEC kicks in!
