2000 TL-P Standing Start Video

Here's a short video of my car just punching it from a standing start in Auto mode. In the car and outside. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2f2AUM46-4

When i'm flooring it in in Auto as well, my car kicks into 4th just past 100, but I have the 4spd.

Thanks, it was fun to make. I used Pinnacle Studio 10 and a DV video camera. Studio 10 is fun to play with. Easy editing and cool transisitions. I wished I could have shown the whole thing, but YouTube made me shorten it due to size. The two orange lights in the dash are the traction control light (traction control shut off) and a check engine light because my oxygen sensor is bad from when I did the headers. Someone told me to take it out and torch it to remove impurities, but I haven't tried it yet, otherwise I'll replace it in the spring as the car hibernates in the winter. Yeah it justs shifts into 4th at 100mph by itself. I would have kept going, but I hit a corner at 100 and it got a little hairy with one hand on the wheel and the other on the camera!

nice vid. that shit sounds mean and looks pretty damn quick. thatll teach me never to underestimate the tl-p.

btw, did you feather the gas in 1st? or did it just break traction, and when youre tires caught the rpm's dropped back down to like 5k.

The '99-'03 are the 2nd gen TLs.. the '99's are the only one with the 4spd.

I have the '99 just like you do, but when I'm flooring it, it won't shift into 4th until just past 100mph. I find it funny. That car sounds crazy though.

Yes, the upgrades made a huge difference!! JUST DO IT as Nike would say.

To answer the above, it's a 2000 5 speed. Yeah, beware of sneaky TL-Ps. I raced a friend once, who had a '00 Type S w/ CAI and wheels. I didn't have the headers then and I walked him from a light. He was surprised too. The V-Tec didn't lag. This was not a race start. I just stomped it from a dead stop, it burned thru 1st, briefly shifted into 2nd, the tires caught and briefly back to first. Yes it shifted into 4th at 100mph. Didn't get a chance to see when 5th would hit because (please don't flame me) it was on a 40 mph road and I came to a curve.

do the tl-p's have lsd? whenever i do a deadstop start, itll burn till about 5k, and then catches... ive never been able to burn through 1st like you did. here is an example. i started the same way you did. i took this the other night after i installed my intake.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5DVDCxDiTg

i didnt catch traction till after vtec, but it still caught. my tires are 225's, not sure what yours are. just wondering if you have a freak motor making mad torque, or if my motor is weaker than it should be. but if you dont have lsd, that explains it all.

....as a guy that just replaced his tranny a few months back..Im wondering what all this 'flooring' will do to your trannies!!!

Any ideas?

Im tempted to try it with my 235 Contacts Sports but I dont want to get owned by the tranny gods again!

did he upgrade his motor to a type-s or did u make a mistake? cause theres no type-s b4 2002, unless he changed it himself.

You're probably right about the limited slip. I don't think I have one but I'm not sure. I know there's plenty of experts on here that can answer that.

I floor mine all the time and I'm on my original tranny w/ 225's. maybe I've just been lucky?

Now that I think of it, he had clear top rears, so it probably was an '02. It was a couple of years ago and the mind is going!

Not yet, I guess I can say that but nothing about selling according to mods. When they're ready, I'll tell you, but you'll have to figure out where they'll be for sale yourself if they don't let me sell cheap to forum people. I can't put up any links or PMs either and I won't. Shouldn't be too tough to find though if you know what I mean.

Maybe I have a better video camera? I do video at work, or I aimed it down at an angle more which maybe cut the wind noise. It did come out pretty good huh? My camera also has a zoom mic which focuses more on what you aim it at.
